St Lawrence Spurs obtained the third win from three matches of the campaign over bottom placed Munxar Falcons and with the points obtained they are now joint leaders with Gharb Rangers.  The match was quite contested during the first half but St Lawrence came out more determined after the break and scored two quick goals which paved the way to the win.

In the eleventh minute of play St Lawrence had a good effort through a header by Charles Mercieca from a corner action that ended wide and in the following action Munxar opened the score.  Jordi Parnis produced a personal action and placed in goal with a low shot.  Munxar could have doubled the score on 13 minutes but Francesco Azzopardi incredibly concluded badly from a good position following a miskick by St Lawrence’s keeper Godwin Micallef.  The Spurs replied on 17 minutes through a shot by Christopher Cauchi that ended wide and two minutes later Mohammed Senussi Telessi entered the area with a good move but concluded weak so that the goalkeeper saved without difficulty.  St Lawrence levelled the score on 28 minutes when goalie Lorjean Xuereb partially saved a shot by Jason Portelli and Charlon Tabone was at the right place and guided the ball into an open goal among protests for an offside.  St Lawrence tried to increase their pressure on Munxar’s rear guard and on 32 minutes a shot by Luke Attard ended just wide.  One minute later Munxar’s keeper saved with some difficulty an attempt by Charlon Tabone and on 36 minutes a strike by Jason Portelli ended over Munxar’s goal.  Three minutes later the Spurs almost turned the result in their favour but a header by Charles Mercieca from a corner kick by Charlon Tabone hit the crossbar and the goalkeeper saved the danger with the aid of the post.

St Lawrence however took the lead in the fourth minute of play of the second period through a header by Christopher Cauchi following a corner kick by Luke Attard.  Munxar went close to level the score on 57 minutes but a free kick by Alex Simoncic was saved to a corner by goalie Godwin Micallef.  One minute later the Falcons were punished for the missed chance as St Lawrence increased their lead through Mohammed Senussi Tellessi who produced a counter break, turned around the goalkeeper outside the area and placed easily into an open goal.  On 69 minutes Munxar re-opened their chances to recover the deficit when Jordi Parnis entered St Lawrence’s area with a personal action and from his low pass Kenneth Mizzi concluded easily in goal from close distance.  Two minutes later St Lawrence were awarded a penalty for a foul by Gabriel Muscat on Mohammed Senussi Telessi but the latter had his shot from the spot kick that was saved by goalie Lorjean Xuereb.  However, the Spurs made sure of the victory on 81 minutes through Marlon Mamo who concluded easily into an open goal when goalie Lorjean Xuereb failed to clear a free kick by Mohammed Senussi Telessi.  Three minutes later the same Mamo went very close to add another goal but his cross shot was stopped by the crossbar.
