Challengers for the title Nadur Youngsters obtained three easy points from a 4-1 win over Victoria Hotspurs and increased their pressure on current leaders Xewkija Tigers.  In this match Nadur dominated over their opponents and although they took more than half hour of play to open the score, the victory was never in contention.  The Hotspurs faced this encounter with four regular players missing due to a suspension, namely Jason Pace, Christian Mercieca, Kevin Farrugia and Henrique Maciel; and therefore they found it extremely difficult to resist to Nadur’s supremacy.  Nadur once again confirmed that they have the right motivation to challenge for the title and most players are also showing that they are finding their best form of play.  In addition, in this match their Brazilian striker Dewide Dos Santos managed to be among the scorers for his side after five matches.

The youngsters could have opened the score in the fifth minute of play when Brandon said entered Victoria’s are abut from his pass Claudio Antunes’ shot was blocked to a corner by central defender Moussa Bamba.  One minute later an attempt by Saviour Attard ended away from Victoria’s goal and on 12 minutes Claudio Antunes produced a break within Victoria’s territory but he prolonged the ball when he entered the area and the Brazilian striker missed the opportunity to conclude towards goal.  Victoria’s goalie Adrian Parnis was called to make a difficult save on 14 minutes to turn to a corner a shot from long distance by Ronaldo Da Silva.  The Hotspurs replied with an initiative by Denis Sytnik two minutes but the striker had his shot blocked by goalie Matthew Muscat.  On 21 minutes Nadur had a goal following a free kick by Dewide Dos Santos that was disallowed for an offside infringement.  On the half hour mark Nadur’s goalie Matthew Muscat left his position in time to take the ball before John Paul Grima could conclude following a personal action.  Nadur opened the score on 34 minutes when an attempt from close distance by Milos Stojanovic following a melee in front of Victoria goalmouth was cleared off the line by John Paul Grima and Darko Stojanovic took the ball and fired in goal from close distance.  Three minutes later Nadur could have doubled the score but an attempt by Milos Stojanovic hit the post and the goalkeeper saved the danger among protests that the ball might have cross the fatal line before the intervention by the goalkeeper.  Nadur however scored their second goal on 41 minutes through a low shot by Claudio Antunes following a personal action.  In the first minute of stoppage time before half time Nadur’s Dewide Dos Santos had a good shot that was neutralised by goalie Adrian Parnis.

The Hotspurs tried to produce a reaction after the break and on 47 minutes a shot by John Paul Grima following a prolonged action inside Nadur’s area was blocked by goalie Matthew Muscat.  Nadur replied on 55 minutes when Claudio Antunes entered Victoria’s area and passed to Milos Stojanovic.  The latter prolonged to Shaun Attard but the latter had his shot towards the far post that ended just wide.  One minute later Nadur increased their lead through a low shot by Dewide Dos Santos after receiving from Claudio Antunes.  On 62 minutes the Youngsters scored their fourth goal when Victoria’s keeper punched away a free kick by Dewide Dos Santos but Brandon Said took the ball and concluded in goal with a low shot.  On 71 minutes Victoria’s goalie Adrian Parnis was almost surprised by a direct free kick by Dewide Dos Santos but the defence cleared the danger.  During the final stages the Hotspurs found more space to operate within Nadur’s territory.  On 78 minutes Joseph Vella had a shot that ended high but on 80 minutes the same Joseph Vella scored the consolation goal for his side with a strike from outside the area.
