Sannat Lions confirmed their good moment of form and obtained an important 3-0 win over St Lawrence Spurs so that they remain at the top of the table, with two points more than Munxar Falcons, the latter however have a game in hand.  This match was considered as a direct clash between two of the protagonists of the campaign as St Lawrence could have re-joined the race for promotion if they .won the encounter.  The match lived up to the expectations as the two sides produced offensive play.  However, Sannat capitalised from the best scoring opportunities while St Lawrence were erratic in their finishing and on more than one occasion they were denied from scoring by a series of fine interventions by Sannat’s keeper Owen Attard.

During the first part of the match Sannat saw more of the ball but the Spurs were well deployed and were also more dangerous through counter breaks.  On 14 minutes St Lawrence’s Charlon Tabone entered Sannat’s area with a personal action but his short ended wide.  Four minutes later the same Tabone had a first timer following a cross by Kenny Hili that was blocked by goalie Owen Attard and on 19 minutes Charlon Tabone released Denis Di Maio but Sannat’s keeper was well placed and neutralised the danger.  Sannat produced their first serious attempt towards St Lawrence’s goal on 25 minute through a strike by Matthew Portelli that was saved by goalie Luke Buttigieg and one minute later St Lawrence’s ex-striker Mohammed Senussi Telessi had a good effort that was blocked to a corner by St Lawrence’s rear guard.  Sannat opened the score on 31 minutes when Antoine Camilleri entered St Lawrence’s territory by avoiding the offside trap and placed in goal with a low shot.  Sannat could have doubled the score on 39 minutes when St Lawrence’s defence failed to clear the ball following a free kick form long distance and the ball arrived to an unmarked Antoine Camilleri who concluded wide from an ideal position.

In the fourth minute of play of the second period St Lawrence went close to level the score but a shot by Shaun Mizzi following a free kick by Charlon Farrugia ended wide.  Sannat scored their second goal on 55 minutes through Mohammed Senussi Telessi who passed through St Lawrence’s defence and netted with a fine shot.  St Lawrence were not demoralised and two minutes later Sannat’s goalie Owen Attard was called to make a difficult intervention to save to a corner an attempt by Denis Di Maio.  The Spurs kept insisting but for most of the time Sannat managed to keep the danger away from their area.  St Lawrence could have reduced the score on 78 minutes but a first timer by Charlon Tabone following a cross by substitute Luke Attard was stopped by the post.  Three minutes later Sannat practically sealed the victory by scoring the third goal with a low shot by Mohammed Senussi Telessi after receiving from Antoine Camilleri.  One minute later Sannat’s keeper Owen Attard denied St Lawrence from scoring a consolation goal but turning to a corner a free kick by Charlon Tabone.  On the stroke of regular time Sannat went close to score another goal but a shot by Antoine Camilleri following a counter break ended just over the crossbar.

Referee: Ray Tabone
