Oratory Youths obtained a precious win over Gharb Rangers and took full advantage of the slip by SK Victoria Wanderers so that the Youths maintained their hopes to avoid the automatic relegation before the last match of the championship.  In this match the Youths were more determined and although they found it difficult to convert their superiority into goals for the first hour of play they managed to clinced the deserved win with goals that arrived during the last part of the encounter.

Oratory had an excellent start and opened the score in the seventh minute of play through a strike from outside the area by Ralph Ebube Okpokwu that was out of the reach of the Gharb’s goalkeeper.  Gharb however had an immediate reaction and levelled the sore on 13 minutes through a close ranged shot by Marcelo Barbosa following a corner kick by Christian Attard.  Oratory were not demoralised and on 19 minutes Gharb’s keeper Daniel Spiteri was well placed to neutralise a free kick from long distance by Oratory’s Daniel Azzopardi.  Three minutes later an effort by Ralph Ebube Okpokwu after receiving from Gibson Botshelo Mfulwane ended away from Gharb’s goal.  In another good action by Oratory on 25 minutes a first timer by Joshua Buttigieg got s deflection and the ball ended to a corner.  On 32 minutes a strike by Oratory’s Aleandro Bezzina was saved by Gharb’s goalie Daniel Spiteri.  On 42 minutes a header by Ralph Ebube Okpokwu, following a free kick by Daniel Azzopardi, ended just wide from Gharb’s goal; and on the strike of half time Oratory were again dangerous through a shot from outside the area by Aleandro Bezzina that ended wide.

The Youths kept insisting after the resumption and on 47 minutes they were unlucky when a header by Seck Mbacke following a corner by Johann Attard hit the crossbar and from the rebound a header by Aleandro Bezzina was cleared off the line by Gharb’s defender Michael Zerafa.  On 56 minutes Gharb had a direct free kick by Michael Bezzina was saved to a corner with difficulty by goalie Richard Sammut.  The Youths regained the lead on 59 minutes when Johann Attard took the ball onside Gharb’s area from a free kick by Javier Polo Longarela, and from his pass Gharb’s defence failed to clear the ball from the goalmouth so that Ralph Ebube Okpokwu netted form close distance.  Gharb seemed demoralised and on 71 minutes the Youths added another goal when a shot by Ralph Ebube Okpokwu was recovered by Gibson Botshelo Mfulwane inside Gharb’s area and concluded in goal from an angled position among protests from Gharb’s players who considered the waiving by the assistant referee as an indication of an offside position when it actually was a wrong sign by th match official.  Gharb also ended with ten players on 74 minutes when skipper Christian Attard was sent off for a second bookable offence for a foul committed in the midfield on Michael Bezzina.  Oratory scored their fourth goal on 77 minutes through a low shot from outside the area by Secke Mbacke that surprised Gharb’s keeper.  On 94 minutes Oratory could have added another goal when they operated a counter break by Ralph Ebube Okpokwu but from his pass Gibson Botshelo Mfulwane had his shot that was blocked by goalie Daniel Spiteri.
