Munxar Falcons obtained three deserved points form a 3-0 win over Sannat Lions so that they are the only team of the category with maximum points after two matches. Play was rather balanced during the first quarter of the encounter but the Falcons took full command of play after scoring their first goal so that they confirmed their intention to be serious challengers for the title and promotion this season. Munxar’s excellent start to the new season is also expressed by the fact that they scored seven goals with two clean sheets. The Falcons have the necessary potential to be among the protagonist of the campaign as they are motivated and well organized in all the departments. On the other hand Sannat disappointed in this match as they were shocked after conceding the first goal so that they never managed to recover the deficit.
Sannat had the best scoring opportunity of the opening stages of the encounter but Joseph Zammit failed to connect on 10 minutes following a cross by Antoine Camilleri. Munxar opened the score on 25 minutes through a low shot by Samwel Muscat following a free kick from long distance by Christian Bugeja. Munxar gained confidence and increased their pressure on Sannat’s defense. On 28 minutes a shot bhy Michael Mattias Uzor ended inches away from Sannat’s goal and on the half hour mark Sannat’s goalie Owen Attard saved with difficulty to a corner a strike by Jordi Parnis. Nunxar doubled the score on 38 minutes when Jordi Parnis won the ball from a challenge with his direct opponent at the edge of the area and netted with a low drive. On 44 minutes the Falcons could have added another goal but Michael Mattias Uzor incredibly concluded wide when he arrived face to face with the goalkeeper following a corner action.
After the break Sannat tried to produce a reaction but Munxar were in the driving seat and managed to keep the danger away from their area. Sannat best opportunity to re-open the issue arrived on 50 minutes through an initiative by Joseph Zammit, who entered the area following a personal action but goalie Liam Gatt left his position in time and deny Sannat’s young striker from addressing the ball towards goal. Munxar continued to administer play and on 72 minutes they scored their third goal through a low shot by Michael Mattias Uzor who was released inside Sannat’s area by substitute Roberto Sammut. Sannat could have scored a consolation goal on 78 minutes but a header by Oliver Farrugia from a corner kick by Matthew Portelli hit the crossbar. On 83 minutes Sannat were reduced to ten players when the referee showed the red card to Antoine Camilleri for a foul on Samwel Muscat.
