Oratory Youths earned three precious points form their match against SK Victoria Wanderers and with the points obtained they moved away from the bottom of the table and also moved above the same Wanderers on the table.  This was also Oratory’s first win in the championship.  In this match the two sides were aiming for the full points at stake in an attempt to get away from the red zone and as a result the victory could have gone either way.  The final scored matured due lack of concentration at the two defensive departments.  The Wanderers produced the better play for most of the encounter but failed to capitalise from their scoring opportunities and ended up committing mistakes at their defence which compromised the possibility to obtain a positive result.  Oratory on the other hand showed determination to obtain a victory from this match and were able to neutralise Victoria’s play and scored the decisive goal six minutes form the end of regular time.

The Wanderers tried to take command of play from the very beginning but they did not manage to create early scoring opportunities.  Oratory surprised their opponents in their first attempt at goal.  On 8 minutes Oratory’s Joshua Buttigieg headed inside the area a free kick from long distance by Charles Mercieca and Ralph Ebube Okpokwu fired in goal from close distance.  The Wanderers had an immediate reaction and on 11 minutes Sam Harland released Nicolas Abot inside Oratory’s area but the latter saw his first timer saved to a corner by goalie Richard Sammut.  Victoria levelled the score on 17 minutes through a direct free kick by Abdullahi Ige that was out of the reach of Oratory’s goalie.  On 20 minutes the Wanderers had an attempt through a shot from long distance by Ian Xuereb that ended just wide and on 28 minutes Predrag Dordevic produced a personal action within Oratory’s area, but the latter concluded weak and Oratory’s Manuel Buttigieg cleared the danger from the goalmouth.  On the half hour mark Oratory replied through a strike by Bartomeu Perello Palou ended just high and five minutes later Victoria’s Abdullahi Ige entered the area with a personal action but his shot was blocked to a corner.  The Wanderers were again dangerous on 39 minutes through a free kick by Predrag Dordevic that just missed the target.

In the second minute of play of the second period the Wanderers were awarded a penalty for a foul by Manuel Buttigieg on Ajibade Adesina and Predrag Dordevic converted from the spot kick to put his side in the lead.  The Youths had an immediate reaction and on 50 minutes Ralph Ebube Okpokwu entered the area following a through pass by Bartomeu Perello Palou but the striker concluded wide from an ideal position.  The Wanderers also lost a golden scoring opportunity on 53 minutes when Sam Harland released Nicolas Abot inside Oratory’s area but the latter concluded incredibly wide from close distance.  Three minutes later Oratory levelled the score when Radovan Duric entered Victoria’s area from the right flank and from his cross Victoria’s goalie Leonard Camilleri committed an own goal in his attempt to clear the danger.  The Wanderers were shocked and Oratory regained the lead on 58 minutes through Radovan Duric won the ball at Victoria’s area and fired in goal with a fine shot.  On 62 minutes the Youths went again close to scoring through a shot by Bartomeu Perello Palou that was turned to a corner by goalie Leonard Camilleri.  On 66 minutes the Wanderers scored the equaliser when Oratory’s defence failed to clear the ball from their area and Predrag Dordevic took the ball and placed in goal with a low shot.  The Wanderers tried to increases their pressure in an attempt to regain the lead and on 73 minutes Oratory’s goalie Richard Sammut was called to make a good save to neutralise a shot by Predrag Dordevic after receiving from Ajibade Adesina.  On 84 minutes Oratory scored the goal that decided the issue when Charles Mercieca pushed the ball in goal from close distance following a corner kick by substitute Aleandro Bezzina.  The Wanderers did not manage to recover the score and the closest that they went to scoring was in the first minute of stoppage time through a shot by Predrag Dordevic ended wide.
