St Lawrence Spurs registered a large win over Munxar Falcons and earned their first points of the campaign.  The two sides suffered defeats in their previous match and therefore both St Lawrence and Munxar were aiming to obtain a positive result.  The Spurs however were superior to their opponents and confirmed their potential by dominating the encounter and practically made sure of the victory with five goals scored during the first period.  St Lawrence confirmed also that they will be undoubtedly among the main challengers for promotion as they have a right mix of experienced and young players who are determined to achieve their goal.  Munxar once again found it extremely difficult to control St Lawrence’s offensive play and were demoralised from the early stages of the encounter.  With this result Munxar remain the only team without a point in the category.  The main protagonists in St Lawrence’s victory were strikers Mohammed Senussi Telessi, who scored a hat-trick, and Charlon Tabone who scored a brace.

St Lawrence took command of play from the very beginning and opened the score on 7 minutes through a tap-in by Mohammed Senussi Telessi following a low cross by Charlon Tabone.  Four minutes later an effort by Christopher Cauchi after receiving from Telessi ended just wide and on 15 minutes the Spurs doubled the score through a low shot by Mohammed Senussi Telessi following a personal action.  On 21 minutes Munxar’s goalie Mario Agius made a good intervention to save a header by Mohammed Senssi Telessi but the same Libyan striker increased the lead one minute later when he came face to face with the goalkeeper and netted with a low shot.  On 26 minutes Telessi crossed to an unmarked Charlon Tabone inside the area and the latter fired in goal from a good position.  On 35 minutes Charlon Tabone took a back pass by central defender Josef Galea aimed to goalie Mario Agius and St Lawrence’s striker lobbed easily into an open goal to make it 5-0.  During the final stages of the first half St Lawrence reduced their pressure and on 45 minutes Munxar could have reduced the deficit but a free kick by Francesco Cini was saved to a corner by goalie Elliott Fenech with the aid of the crossbar.

After the break St Lawrence regain command of play and on 50 minutes they could have scored another goal but Charlon Tabone incredibly concluded high from an ideal position following a cross by Jason Theuma.  On 53 minutes Mohammed Senussi Telessi had a first timer following a cross by Charlon Tabone that ended just wide.  Munxar’s goalie Mario Agius was well placed on 62 minutes to neutralise a direct free kick by Jason Theuma and the same goalkeeper saved another attempt from a free kick by the same Theuma on 74 minutes.  The Spurs could have scored the sixth goal on the stroke of regular time when substitute Sylvan Caruana entered the area but had his strike that was stopped by the crossbar.
