Nadur Youngsters took full advantage of the defeat conceded by the leaders Xewkija Tigers in match-day 18 and obtained three easy points from a large win over Xaghra United.  With this result Nadur moved to just one point behind the leaders while Xaghra United are mathematically relegated to the second division.  Nadur dominated the match and paved the way with three goals scored during the first half hour of the encounter so that the victory was never in contention.  For this match Nadur had defenders Ronaldo Da Silva and Saviour Attard missing due to a suspension while Xaghra played without Michael Bezzina for the same reason.

Nadur could have opened the score in the tenth minute but a shot by Claudio Antunes after receiving from Milos Stojanovic was blocked by goalie Daniel Galea.  Nadur scored their first goal on 15 minutes through a close ranged header by Claudio Antunes following a cross from long distance by Dewide Dos Santos.  Three minutes later a header by Brandon Said following a corner kick by Dewide Dos Santos ended just over Xaghra’s goal and Xaghra replied on 25 minutes through a free kick by Antonio Laskov that was well saved to a corner by goalie Matthew Muscat.  Nadur doubled the score one minute later through a tap-in by Milos Stojanovic following a low cross by Shaun Attard.  On 29 minutes Nadur scored their third goal when Claudio Antunes fired in goal following a personal action and two minutes later Xaghra went close to scoring but a strike by Gerald Tushe was saved with some difficulty by goalie Matthew Muscat.

After the break Nadur continued to dominate over their demoralized opponents and on 47 minutes substitute Joseph Grima had a close ranged shot that was saved to a corner by goalie Daniel Galea.  Xaghra replied two minutes later through a low shot by Antonio Laskov that ended wide and on 52 minutes Nadur increased their lead through a shot by Joseph Grima following a through pass by Milos Stojanovic.  Three minutes later Nadur’s Shaun Attard entered Xaghra’s area with a personal action and from his pass Dewide Dos Santos had his shot on the run that was partially saved by goalie Daniel Gala and from the rebound Joseph Grima netted from close distance.  On 57 minutes Xaghra went again close to scoring but a lob by Johann Bajada when the goalkeeper was out of his position ended wide.  On 61 minutes Nadur added another goal when Dewide Dos Santos had a close ranged shot following a pass by Milos Stojanovic that was partially saved by goalie Daniel Galea and the same striker headed in goal from close distance.  On 67 minutes Nadur’s young substitute Michael Paul Camilleri won a challenge inside the area with Daniel Sowatey and concluded in goal with a low shot.  Xaghra could have scored a consolation goal on 89 minutes but Antonio Laskov had a low shot from a good position after receiving from Johann Bajada that ended wide.  Nadur sealed the victory with the eighth goal that arrived in the first minute of stoppage time through Dewide Dos Santos who concluded into an open goal following a prolonged action inside Xaghra’s area.
