The match between Xaghar United and St Lawrence Spurs from match Day one of the second division campaign Kercem Ajax Stadium went off and was not restored.
The two teams had a prudent approach but as time passed by the two sides became more adventurous and created scoring opportunities. On 12 minutes St Lawrence could have opened the score on 12 minutes but a shot by Mohammed Senussi Telessi ended wide. One minute later the Spurs were again dangerous when Steve Dimech received the ball in the area from an unmarked position but his shot was saved by goalie Frankie Azzopardi. Xaghra replied on 13 minutes through a strike by Luke Attard that ended over the crossbar and one minute later St Lawrence’s keeper Nicholas Mercieca was well placed to save a free kick from long distance by Eman Bugeja. In the 22nd minute there was a power failure at the Kercem Ajax Stadium and the referee waited for twenty minutes before but the power was not restored and the match was abandoned.
