BOV GFA Player of the Month for February

Xewkija Tigers’ goalkeeper Mark Grima is the BOV GFA Player of the Month for February 2019. Horace Laudi, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta presented Mark with his trophy.

An injury in the beginning of the football season meant that Grima had to miss some matches, however, a fast recovery saw him regain his position between the posts for Xewkija.

The 1-1 scoreline against Nadur Youngsters would have been much worse for Xewkija had Grima not pulled a string of fine saves to help his team get the important point – a performance that was repeated in their 2-1 loss to Nadur Youngsters. These matches were followed up with a 7-1 routing of Gharb Rangers.

34-year-old Grima started his career at a very young age with Victoria Hotspurs where he won awards in the GFA 1st and 2nd Division between 2008 and 2011. He was also one of Team Gozo’s goalkeepers in the UEFA Regions Cup.

Mark chose Fondazzjoni Arka to benefit from the donation associated with this award.
