SUMMARY

Sannat Lions registered their third win in the campaign from three matches in their encounter against Munxar Falcons.  This was the last match from Match-Day 3 and the two sides were motivated to obtain a win as Sannat were seeking to extend their perfect start in the campaign, while Munxar were aiming to obtain their first points in the league.  However, Sannat managed to impose their superiority throughout the encounter as Munxar were fragile at their defence and very weak in their sporadic actions towards Sannat’s goal. The Lions scored two goals during the opening stages of the encounter and although Munxar reduced the deficit Sannat regained a two-goal lead before the half-hour mark.  Sannat continued to dictate matters and sealed the win with a fourth goal that arrived at a late stage of the match.

TIMELINE

Sannat took command of play from the very beginning and also managed to take an early lead.

4’ (1-0) Sannat’s Ebube Ralph Okpokwu won the ball from Munxar’s keeper and placed easily into an open goal.

10’ Munxar could have levelled the score as Sannat’s goalkeeper failed to clear the ball from a zone outside his area and as Munxar’s Ayesller Carvalho was preparing to conclude into an open goal Sannat’s central defender Fabian Xuereb made a decisive recovery and cleared the ball to a corner.

12’ (2-0) Munxar were punished for the missed chance as Sannat doubled the score through a fine strike by Joseph Zammit that also got a deflection by Munxar’s defence and the ball ended out of the reach of the goalkeeper.

15’ (2-1) Munxar re-opened the issue through a direct free kick converted by Ayesller Carvalho.

21’ Sannat could have added another goal but a low shot by Joseph Zammit ended wide.

24’ (3-1) penalty – The referee awarded a penalty to Sannat for handling by Johnny Grech and Antoine Camilleri fired in goal with his attempt from the spot-kick.

HT (3-1)

After the resumption, Munxar failed to produce a reaction and Sannat continued to hold command of play.

47’ Sannat went very close to add another goal but a strike from outside the area by Christian Vella hit the crossbar.

56’ Sannat lost a good scoring opportunity when Ebube Ralph Okpokwu hit badly following a prolonged action within Munxar’s area and the ball arrived to an unmarked Antoine Camilleri who saw his shot from a good position that ended high.

64’  Sannat’s Christian Vella had a shot from a corner kick by Ryan Grech that ended just over the crossbar.

69’ Munxr’s defence managed to deflect to a corner a low shot by Joseph Zammit who was released inside the area by Antoine Camilleri.

87’ (4-1) Sannat sealed the win with a fourth goal that arrived through a low shot from the edge of the area by Ebube Ralph Okpokwu following a personal action.

90+1’ Munxar’s keeper Frankie Azzopardi denied Sannat’s Antoine Camilleri from scoring another goal when he managed to block a close-ranged shot by the striker.

FT (4-1)
