FA Trophy holders Balzan will launch their cup defence against Second Division side San Ġwann as the draws of the third and fourth rounds were made on Wednesday at the Trophies Lounge.
The draws were conducted by Dr Angelo Chetcuti, the General Secretary of the Malta FA, and Rodney Pisani, the Head of Competitions at the Malta FA.
The third-round draw has produced a series of enticing fixtures, including three all-Premier League ties – Gżira United vs Senglea, Sliema Wanderers vs Santa Lucia and Tarxien Rainbows vs Ħamrun Spartans.
Valletta, the current champions and FA Trophy finalists last season, kick off their cup campaign against First Division side St Andrews with the third-round ties scheduled to take place between November 29 and December 1, 2019.
A total of 32 clubs were involved in the third-round draw with the 14 BOV Premier League teams entering the frame at this stage of the competition. The top six teams in last season’s BOV Premier League were seeded.
Nine teams from the First Division, five from the Second Division and four Gozitan clubs have advanced to the third round from the initial rounds.
The fourth-round pairings were also made on Wednesday, resulting in some intriguing match-ups.
