Sannat Lions obtained a convincing win over Munxar Falcons in a match from the Quarter Final stage of the Knock-Out competition for the second division so that they remain in contention for the two honours of the category. Sannat were determined to obtain the qualification to the semi-finals and held territorial supremacy for long stretches. Sannat took the lead at an early stage of the encounter and practically made sure of the win with two quick goals scored after the break. In the match of the semi-final, Sannat will meet Oratory Youths.

Timeline:
Sannat came out more aggressive in an attempt to score an early goal.
6’ (0-1) Sannat opened the score in their first serious attempt at goal when Christian Debono had a shot inside the area and the ball arrived at Joseph Zammit who concluded in goal with an overhead kick.
14’ Sannat were again dangerous through a header by Joseph Zammit that was neutralised by goalie Frankie Azzopardi.
26’ Sannat kept insisting and went again close to double the score but an effort by Joseph Zammit ended on the side of the net.
Munxar managed to come out of their defence during the final stages of the first half but Sannat’s keeper was not called to make any difficult interventions.

For the second period were much more aggressive and managed to make sure of the win with two goals within the opening five minutes.
1’ (39sec.) (0-2) Sannat doubled the score when Lucas Silva Gomes unmarked Joseph Zammit who hit towards goal and surprised Munxar’s keeper.
3’ Sannat could have added another goal when Joseph Zammit passed around a number of defenders and the goalkeeper inside Munxar’s area but the striker failed to conclude as Munxar’s defence recovered and blocked the danger.
5’ (0-3) Sannat scored the third goal through a low shot by Lucas Silva Gomes following a personal action.
7’ Munxar could have reduced the deficit but Luke Cilia controlled badly in front of goal following a cross by Ayesller Carvalho and missed the opportunity to hit towards goal.
12’ Sannat went close to score another goal but a shot from an angled position by Christian Vella following a personal action ended just wide.
45+2’ (1-3) penalty – Munxar scored their consolation goal when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by Joseph Buttigieg on Ayesller Carvalho and the same player converted from the spot-kick.
