SK Victoria Wanderers scored a goal in each half in their match against Xaghra United and registered their first win in the championship. With these points the Wanderers also moved away from the bottom of the table for the first time since the beginning of the BOV Gozo Football League of the first division.
This was a match between two sides who were without a point before this encounter and therefore both SK Victoria Wanderers and Xaghra United were motivated to obtain their first positive result after four consecutive defeats. However, the Wanderers paved the way to the win by taking the lead in the first minute of play so that for most of the time they controlled Xaghra’s reaction and throughout the encounter they created more scoring opportunities. The Citizens practically put their minds at rest by scoring the second goal after the break but during the final stages they seemed overconfident and risked to compromise the outcome of the match. Fir this match Xaghra introduced two Brazilian players who left a positive impact on the overall performance but they still found it difficult to create danger and as a result they found it difficult to recover the deficit. In this match Xaghra managed to score their first goal in the championship that arrived one minute from the end of the regular time.
