Munxar Falcons earned three easy points form a 4-0 win over Gharb Rangers and moved to the runners-up position on the table at the expense of the same Gharb.  The Falcons held command of play throughout the encounter and practically made sure of the win by scoring three goals during the first half and took the break not only with a comfortable lead but also with two extra players on the field of play as the Rangers had two players sent off in separate occasions.  This result also allows leaders Qala to keep a wide gap with the contenders for the top position.  The hero for Munxar in this match was striker Ayesller Carvalho who scored a brace and with these goals he is now leading the top scorer table of the category with nine goals together with Qala’s Ebube Ralph Okpokwu.

Timeline

Munxar had an excellent start and took command of play form the first minutes of play.

3’ Gharb’s keeper John Paul Cassar lft his position in time to block an attempt by Ayesller Carvalho who received the ball inside the area following a pass by Steve Dimech.

8’ (1-0) Munxar opened the score when Ayesller Carvalho delivered a cross towards the goalmouth and Joseph Grima headed in goal from close distance.

9’ Gharb replied through a shot by Luke Atttard that was partially saved by Munxar’s keeper Damien Spiteri and the defence continued to clear the danger form the area.

10’ Munxar’s Luke Meilak had a good effort that was blocked by goalie John Paul Cassar.

12’ Gharb had another good opportunity through a strike by Charles Hili that ended wide.

14’ (2-0) Munxar doubled the score when Ayesller Carvalho entered Gharb’s territory in a counter break after receiving from Steve Dimech, entered the area, turned around the goalkeeper and deposited easily into an open goal.

21’ (red card) Gharb were reduced to 10 players when Lauran Dimech was sent off after receiving the second yellow card for a foul in the midfield on Aaron Buttigieg.

34’ (3-0) Munxar added another goal through a header by Robert Grima following a cross by Joseph Grima.

36’ Gharb’s keeper was again called to make another good intervention when he blocked with his feet a close ranged attempt by Munxar’s Ayesller Carvalho.

42’ (red card) Gharb ended with 9 players when Gabriel Sillato was shown a red card for a rough tackle on Luke Meilak.

For the second period Munxar came out with less pressure and continued to control play.

9’ Gharb’s goalie made a good intervention to neutralise an effort by Luke Meilak.

15’ Gharb could have reduced the score but a shot form an angled position by substitute Arthur Farrugia ended on the side of the net.

18’ Munxar went again close to scoring through a strike from outside the area by Luke Meilak that was saved to a corner by goalie John Paul Cassar.

25’ In another offensive action by Munxar a shot by Robert Grima ended wide.

35’ (4-0) Munxar scored their fourth goal through a shot from outside the area by Ayesller Carvalho that surprised the goalkeeper.

38’ A cross shot by Munxar’s Ayesller Carvalho was stopped by the post.

40’ Munxar had a goal scored by Steve Dimech that was disallowed for an offside position by substitute Derek Paul Borg who delivered the cross in the area.
