Nadur Youngsters obtained their second consecutive win in the BOV Gozo Football League of the first division by defeating Xewkija Tigers with a large score. The two sides were both on four points before this match and therefore they were both aiming to extend their positive stat in the campaign. For this encounter Nadur and Xewkija had a player each missing due to suspension, Ederson Bruno Domingos for the Youngsters and Rodney Buttigieg for the Tigers.
Nadur’s impressive 7-0 win matured with goals scored during the second period. Play was quite interesting during the first half as Xewkija struggled to produce a reaction after conceding an early goal and were considered to be in contention for a positive result at the end of the first half. Nadur however scored their second goal during the opening stages of the second period and Xewkija ended up co placating the matters in their attempt to increase their efforts to re-open the issue. As a result Nadur found more space to operate breaks within Xewkija’s territory and ended up dominating the issue and scored five more goals. Nadur’s striker Marcelo Barbosa was a continuous threat to Xewkija’s defence and marked his fine display by scoring three personal goals.

The Youngsters were more offensive in their play and paved the way for a positive result by scoring and early goal. Xewkija tried hard to recover the score until the end of the first half but they were erratic in their finishing and failed to capitalise from some good opportunities where they could have levelled the score.
9’ (1-0) Nadur opened the score when Xewkija’s defence seemed surprised following a corner action and Judivan Flor Da Silva concluded in goal from close distance.
10’ Xewkija had an immediate reply through a low shot by debutant Haruna Shodija Shola that was blocked by goalie Steve Sultana.
15’ Nadur goalie was again called to make a good intervention to block a strike by Rafael Rodolfo Da Silveira.
29’ Nadur should have capitalised better when Stefan Cassar delivered a low inviting cross towards Xewkija’s goalmouth but the striker failed to follow the action and central defender Martin Hrubsa cleared the danger.
34’ Xewkija were dangerous and close to leave the score but Nadur’s keeper Steve Sultana managed to save a direct free kick by Haruna Shodija Shola.
43’ (protests for a penalty) Nadur protested for a penalty when Xewkija’s defender Josmar Vella blocked a cross from the right flank.

Nadur surprised their opponents from the early stages of the second period and practically they put their minds at rest form the three points by scoring the second goal. Xewkija got confused in their attempt to push more players forward to recover the deficit and ended up conceding a heavy defeat.
2’ (2-0) Nadur doubled the score when Stefan Cassar took the ball from Xewkija in their midfield, turned around two defenders and defeated the goalkeeper with a low shot.
Xewkija were shocked while Nadur grew in confidence and took full control of play.
6’ Xewkija’s goalie Kyle Attard was well placed and blocked an effort by Judavin Flor Da Silva.
12’ Nadur missed a good opportunity to add another goal when Marcelo Barbosa entered Xewkija’s area following a fast break but from his low pass, Stefan Cassar incredibly had his attempt blocked by goalie Kyle Attard.
19’ (3-0) Nadur scored the third goal when Marcelo Barbosa produced a personal action within Xewkija’s territory, exchange the ball inside the area with Judivan Flor Da Silva and the former netted with a low drive.
25’ (4-0) Nadur added another goal when Judavin Flor Da Silva released Marcelo Barbosa and the latter concluded easily in goal form close distance.
27’ (5-0) The fifth goal arrived following a prolonged action inside Xewkija’s area and finally Jordi Parnis released Judivan Flor Da Silva who came face to face with the goalkeeper and placed in goal with a low shot.
30’ Xewkija could have scored a consolation goal but a header by Rafael Rodolfo Da Silveira following a free kick by Emiliano Lattes ended wide.
33’ (6-0) Nadur’s striker Marcelo Barbosa marked his impressive performance during the second period by scoring his third personal goal that arrived through a curling shot following a personal action.
41’ Xewkija had another scoring opportunity but a strike by Rafael Rodolfo Da Silveira.
42’ (7-0) The Youngsters sealed the win by scoring the seventh goal through Jordi Parnis who came face to face with the goalkeeper following a counter break.
45’ Xewkija’s goalie denied Nadur from scoring another goal when he blocked a close ranged header by substitute Peter Owen Bugeja.
