Nadur Youngsters earned a place in the final of the BOV GFA Knock Out competition for the first division with a fine win over Kercem Ajax. This was the first match for Nadur’s Paul Camilleri as head coach of the first team. Camilleri was the assistant coach of Branko Nisevic until the latter joined Premier side Hamrun Spartans during the previous week.
The match was well contested during the first half-hour of play as the Ajax tried to be competitive as much as their more quoted opponents. Kercem failed to capitalise from some dangerous actions within Nadur’s territory during the opening stages so that the Youngsters expressed their superiority as time passed by and paved the way to the qualification with two goals scored during the first half. The match was well contested during the opening minutes as the two sides tried to put pressure over their respective opponents. However, the two goalkeepers were not called to be any difficult intervention despite some dangerous action by the strikers of the two sides.
21’ (0-1) Nadur scored the opening goal in their first serious action by means of Judivan Flor Da Silva concluded in goal from close distance following an inviting cross from the right flank by Marcelo Barbosa.
22’ Kercem had an immediate reply but a first-timer by Chris Camilleri following a cross from the right missed the target.
Nadur gained some territorial supremacy and pushed their opponents within their area.
33’ Nadur could have added another goal but a first-timer by Joseph Zammit from a good position following a cross by Stefan Cassar ended wide.
34’ Nadur’s Ederson Bruno Domingos had a low shot from outside the area following a personal initiative that was well saved by goalie Gaetano Bugeja.
35’ (0-2) The Youngsters doubled the score through a shot on the run by Judivan Flor Da Silva following a cross from the left by Stefan Cassar.
41’ Kercem’s reaction arrived through a free-kick from long distance by Chris Camilleri but Nadur’s central defender Lucas Moreira risked committing an own goal when he headed the ball to a corner.

Second Half
Kercem tried to produce a reaction but Nadur maintained composure and kept their area clear from danger. The Youngsters also scored the third goal during the opening minutes so that the Ajax were demoralised and found it very difficult to recover.
5’ (0-3) Nadur operated a fine move which disoriented Kercem’s defence and at the end, Marcelo Barbosa released Joseph Zammit inside Kercem’s area and the latter netted with a low drive.
14’ Nadur’s goalie Steve Sultana blocked a free kick by Kercem’s Sebastien Martinez Turizo.
16’ (goal disallowed) Nadur had a goal that was disallowed for an offside infringement.
24’ (0-4) Nadur however scored the fourth through a low shot by Lucas Moreira following a personal action within Kercem’s area.
29’ (0-5) Nadur added another goal through a fine shot from an angled position by Marcelo Barbosa following a cross by Stefan Cassar.
33’ (0-6) The Youngsters made it six when Kercem’s defence was surprised following a through pass by Stefan Cassar and Lucas Moreira took advantage and placed easily in goal from an unmarked position.
40’ (red card) Kercem ended the match on a negative note as they had to substitute Christian Attard who was sent off for receiving two yellow cards within the space of ten minutes that he has been on the field of play.
41’ (0-7) Nadur took immediate advantage of the extra player on the field and scored the seventh goal through a strike by Stefan Cassar after receiving from Marcelo Barbosa.
