Ghajnsielem retained their chances to join the race for the title with three points obtained from their first match of the second round against Sannat Lions. Ghajnsielem earned the points from a convincing 6-0 win over relegation strugglers Sannat Lions. The Blacks dominated their opponents throughout the encounter and had their minds at rest from the win before the end of the first half.
This was Ghajnsielem’s second win with a large score against Sannat in the championship as the match between the two sides of the first round ended with an 8-0 the win for the Blacks. In this match, Ghajnsielem confirmed the recovery from a very disappointing period during October where they conceded unexpected defeat and lost some ground from the top teams on the table.
Timeline:
Ghajnsielem took command of play from the first minutes of the encounter and paved the way to the win by scoring two goals during the first part of the encounter. Sannat suffered Ghajnsielem’s play and found it extremely difficult to protect their area from danger.
3’ Ghajnsielem’s Michael Bezzina had a good shot from a good position that ended just high.
5’ The Blacks went very close to scoring but a header aimed towards the far post by Kevin Farrugia following a corner kick by Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos ended just wide.
7’ (1-0) Ghajnsielem opened the score through a header from close distance by Patrick Dos Santos Cruz following a cross from the left flank by Claudio Henrique Da Silva Barbosa.
9’ (2-0) Sannat continued to concede danger within their area and Ghajnsielem doubled their lead when a corner kick by Claudio Henrique Da Silva Barbosa was headed inside the area by Daniel Farrugia and the ball arrived to an unmarked Michael Bezzina who fired in goal from an ideal position.

Second Half
Ghajnsielem reduced their pressure on Sannat’s defence after the break so that the latter found some space to operate offensive play. However, the Backs continued to create various scoring opportunities so that they ended up scoring three more goals until the final whistle.
3’ Ghajnsielem’s substitute Chris Camilleri had a good shot that was saved with difficulty by goalie Luke Buttigieg.
11’ Sannat created their first attempt towards Ghajnsielem’s goal through a direct corner kick by Sebastien Martinez Turizo that was saved to another corner by Ghajnsielem’s goalie Adrian Parnis.
