The match between Kercem Ajax and SK Victoria Wanderers from Match-Day 5 of the championship ended in a goalless draw so the two sides only managed to obtain a point which left them in the same position on the table.  Kercem and Victoria were aiming to obtain the full points at stake from this encounter as the former were seeking to move over their opponents on the table, while the Citizens needed to recover from the defeat conceded in their previous match and to join the top teams on the table.

The match turned out in an interesting encounter where Kercem produced more offensive play and created more scoring opportunities.  On the other hand, the Wanderers, who had Caique Silvio Souza Da Silva missing from their starting line-up due to an injury, struggled to produce the level of play expressed in the first four matches of the championship and were forced to defend for most of the encounter.  However, throughout the ninety minutes, the two sides failed to capitalise on their respective best chances so the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.

Timeline:

Kercem seemed more aggressive during the opening minutes and for most of the time, the Wanderers were forced to defend with many players.  The Wanderers managed to operate some offensive actions but the two sides had poor finishing and failed to capitalise on their best attempts towards the goal.

8’ (post) Kercem went very close to taking the lead but an attempt directly from a free kick by Olimpio Gabriel Fernandes was saved with difficulty by goalie Adrian Parnis with the aid of the post.

9’ The Wanderers replied with a shot from outside the area by Emerson Zammit but the ball ended away from the target.

12’ Victoria could have created more danger when Marcus Vinicius Claudino Ramos delivered the ball towards Kercem’s goalmouth from a free kick, the defence failed to clear the danger, but Neil Camilleri’s attempt from close distance ended high.

16’ SK Victoria Wanderers gave away a golden scoring opportunity when Junior Conceicao Cabral entered Kercem’s area with a personal action and released himself from his direct opponent but the Brazilian striker incredibly hit badly from an ideal position and the ball ended away from Kercem’s goal.

23’ Kercem’s Gabriel Cardona took the ball from Victoria’s defence on the right flank but from his cross Pablo Vinicius De Moraes Ferreira hit badly and the ball ended away from goal.

24’ The Ajax were again dangerous when Victoria’s defence cleared badly but the attempt from outside the area by Gabriel Cardona got a deflection to a corner.

26’ Victoria could have concluded better when Junior Conceicao Cabral passed outside the area to Gabriel Farrugia but the latter saw his shot from a good position that ended high.

28’ Victoria’s goalie Adrian Parnis was well placed and saved a low shot from outside the area by Emmanuel Peters.

35’ The same goalkeeper was almost surprised following an attempt from outside the area by Pablo Vinicius De Moraes Ferreria. Still, the extreme defender recovered in time and turned the ball to a corner.

36’ From the resultant corner kick taken by Karl Formosa, a header by Ewerthon Caetano Pena ended just over the crossbar.

Second Half

The match continued to be balanced after the break where both sides found it extremely difficult to produce good quality of play.  Kercem however seemed more motivated and as time passed by they increased their efforts in an attempt to obtain the victory so that the outcome remained uncertain.

12’ Kercem produced their best scoring opportunity when Olimpio Gabriel Fernandes released Pablo Vinicius De Moraes Ferreira inside Victoria’s area but the latter saw his low drive aimed towards the far post when Victoria’s goalie was out of his position, which ended just wide.

18’ Victoria’s first serious attempt of the second period arrived from a free kick by Choco, but the ball ended just wide.

19’ Kercem replied with a dangerous action as Pablo Vinicius De Moraes Ferreira delivered a cross from the left flank, Emmanuel Peters headed inside Victoria’s area but Gabriel Cardona’s attempt from a good position ended just over the crossbar.

28’ The Ajax had another good opportunity to take the lead when Pablo Vinicius De Moraes Ferreira entered Victoria’s territory and passed to an unmarked Gabriel Cardona but Victoria’s goalie Adrian Parnis made a decisive intervention and blocked a corner the low shot from close distance by Cardona.

31’ The same goalkeeper was at the right place and blocked with some difficulty a good shot by Karl Formosa.

41’ (post) Kercem were also unlucky when Emmanuel Peters received the ball on the right flank and entered alone inside Victoria’s area but the striker had his attempt that was stopped by the post with the goalkeeper beaten.
