In the last match from Match-Day 2 of the BOV Gozo Football League of the second division Victoria Hotspurs scored three goals in each half to register a large win over Gharb Rangers and with the points obtained they reached Munxar Falcons at the top of the table.
The match was played in very difficult conditions due to the strong wind but the Hotspurs seemed determined to impose their superiority and held command of play throughout the encounter. Gharb struggled to keep a respectable score and they found it extremely difficult to create serious danger towards Victoria’s goal.

The Hotspurs took command of play from the first minute and managed to score an early goal that paved the way to register a large win.
2’ (1-0) The Hotspurs opened the score when Joseph George Vella released Wellington Valentim De Souza and the latter delivered a low cross that arrived to Lucas Farrugia who concluded in the net with a tap-in.
21’ Gharb’s goalie Andre Micallef made a good intervention to block an effort by Joseph George Vella.
22’ (goal disallowed) Victoria’s Wellington Valentim De Souza almost increased the lead when he netted from a close distance but the goal was disallowed for an office infringement.
26’ (2-0) The Hotspurs doubled their lead through a header by Wellington Valentim De Souza following a corner kick by Shaun Attard.
28’ (3-0) Gharb continued to concede Victoria’s pressure and conceded the third goal that arrived through a free kick from a long distance by Joseph George Vella surprised Gharb’s keeper and ended in the lower corner of the net.

Second Half
The Hotspurs continued to dictate matter from the beginning of the second period while Gharb’s reaction was sterile and failed to produce any danger towards Victoria’s goal.
2’ Gharb threatened Victoria’s defence with a shot from long distance by Ryan Meilak but the ball ended away from goal.
3’ (4-0) The Hotspurs scored their fourth goal when Gharb’s defence cleared badly from their area and Shaun Attard took advantage and placed easily in goal from an ideal position.
8’ (5-0) Victoria added another that arrived through a shot by Lorenzo Atzori that surprised Gharb’s goalie.
11’ The Hotspurs missed a good scoring opportunity when Lucas Farrugia passed to Wellington Valentim De Souza but the latter his badly when he was alone in front of Gharb’s goalie and the ball ended wide.
25’ (6-0) The sixth goal for the Hotspurs arrived through Wellington Valentim De Souza who netted easily when Gharb’s defence was completely exposed.
34’ Gharb’s best opportunity to score a consolation goal arrived through an attempt directly from a free kick by Orlando Atzori but the ball ended just high.
