Ian Xuereb: Nadur Youngsters FC
Ian Xuereb of Nadur Youngsters was chosen as the BOV Gozitan football player of the month for January. The presentation of the BOV Player of the Month trophy was made by Mrs. Charmaine Borg, manager of the Bank of Valletta for the Gozo Region at the Bank’s office in Victoria Gozo.

Ian Xuereb is the central defender of Nadur Youngsters. He is 31 years old and has been playing in the top division of Gozitan football for several years with different teams. He started his career as a lateral player, but in recent years, as long as he has been with Nadur Youngsters, he has established a role in the heart of the defence. Xuereb won the top honours of Gozitan football with Nadur Youngsters and in recent years he has made good use of the experience he has gained over the years to become a regular player in the team. Xuereb is also very exemplary on the pitch despite the pressure that players who play in this crucial role sometimes go through. In this season Ian Xuereb is playing an important part so that Nadur Youngsters, who are reigning champions and holders of the other Gozo football competitions, are challenging to keep the honours for another season.
During January, Nadur Youngsters were involved in two important matches from the BOV Gozo Football League of the first division where they achieved two victories and consolidated their position at the top of the table. In these two games, Ian Xuereb had very positive performances to help the defence in order for Nadur to protect the results that could be decisive in the final standings. In the first game for the year 2024, Nadur Youngsters achieved a two-to-one victory against the main challengers for winning the championship Qala Saints, and in the other game, Nadur recorded a victory by a big score of five to nil against Oratory Youths.
The contribution of the Bank of Valletta linked to this honour, according to Ian Xuereb’s wishes, will go to the Arka Foundation.
