GFA BOV Player of the Month – April 2024
Stefan Cassar: Nadur Youngsters FC
Nadur Youngsters midfielder Stefan Cassar has been selected as the
BOV player of the month for April 2024. The presentation of the trophy of this honour
was made by the Manager of the Bank of Valletta responsible for the Gozo Region Mrs
Charmaine Borg at the Bank’s office in Victoria Gozo.
Stefan Cassar, who is 26 years old, has been a regular player with Nadur Youngsters for
these last years, but he had a short experience in the Premier League with Hamrun
Spartans at the start of the 2022/2023 season. Cassar is one of the most prominent players
in the Nadur Youngsters team and during this season he showed maturity and
responsibility in helping the team keep a place at the front of the table despite the
the pressure they had from Qala Saints.
During April, Nadur Youngsters were engaged in the last three matches of the league
BOV Gozo Football League of the first division, when they were struggling to win
the league with Qala Saints who had the same points until the last match.
In these three games, Nadur Youngsters recorded three convincing victories by
they beat Xaghra United with a score of two to none, they beat Kercem Ajax with a score of
five free and in the last match they achieved a four-free victory against SK Victoria
Wanderers, for Nadur to take advantage of a slip that Qala Saints had and won the
Gozitan football championship for fifteen times in the history of the club. In the last match
of the championship against SK Victoria Wanderers Stefan Cassar was the main protagonist
by scoring two of the four goals of the decisive game.
