Kercem Ajax obtained a 4-0 win over second-placed St Lawrence Spurs so that they extended their series of wins without conceding a goal in the campaign to eight matches. With this result, St Lawrence is now trailing the Ajax by twelve points.
Kercem’s win matured with two goals scored in each half. Kercem took an early lead but St Lawrence never gave the impression that they could stage a comeback so Ajax practically made sure of the win with a second goal scored just before halftime and a third goal scored just after the restart.

Timeline:
Kercem Ajax held territorial supremacy throughout the first half but St Lawrence managed to neutralise Kercem’s pressure for most of the time but the Ajax still managed to take the break in the lead.
7’ Kercem created their first attempt towards St Lawrence’s goa, through a header by Andrea Debrincat following a cross by Carlos Cutajar but goalie Paul Cremona was well placed and neutralised the danger.
11’ The Ajax were again dangerous through a shot by Antonio Mizzi that was blocked by St Lawrence’s defence.
12’ (1-0) Kercem opened the score when Cesar Velez Da Silva released Andrea Debrincat inside St Lawrence’s area and the latter netted with a low shot.
22’ St Lawrence’s goalie Paul Cremona was called to make a good save following a header from a good position by Cesar Velez Da Silva.
39’ St Lawrence had their best scoring opportunity through a shot from long distance by James Grima that was saved in two attempts by goalie Daniel Spiteri.
45+2’ (2-0) Kercem doubled their lead when Antonio Xuereb delivered the ball towards the far post from a corner kick and Cesar Velez Da Silva headed in goal from close distance.

Second Half
Kercem continued to keep pressure on St Lawrence’s rearguard from the first minutes of play of the second period and converted their superiority into more goals.
3’ (3-0) The Ajax added another goal through a lob from the edge of the area by Andrew Mizzi that ended into an open goal as the goalkeeper was out of his position in an attempt to block the danger.
14’ (4-0) The fourth goal from Kercem arrived from a corner kick by Andre Azzopardi as a header by Andrew Mizzi was partially saved by goalie Paul Cremona with the aid of the crossbar and from the rebound Cesar Velez Da Silva netted from close distance.
36’ Kercem went very close to score another goal but an effort by substitute Lorenzo Atzori was blocked at the edge of the area by goalie Paul Cremona and from the rebound, the effort by Andrew Mizzi was cleared off the goalmouth by central defender Daniel Micallef.
42’ St Lawrence’s goalie Paul Cremona once again denied Kercem’s Andrew Mizzi from scoring by blocking a close-ranged attempt and from the rebound, the shot aimed towards an open goal by Samuel Azzopardi was headed off the goalmouth by defender Neville Haber.
