In the final match of Matchday 7 of the GFA BOV Gozo Football League 2nd Division, Sannat Lions scored a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 win against Zebbug Rovers. With this victory, Sannat climbed back to second place in the standings, tied on points with St. Lawrence Spurs.
Zebbug entered the match with ambitions to secure a win and join the race for second place. However, defensive errors and their inability to convert possession into significant scoring opportunities cost them dearly. Sannat displayed greater experience, defending effectively while being more dangerous on the counterattack.

Timeline:
Zebbug enjoyed greater possession in the first half, trying to exert pressure on the Sannat defence. However, they struggled to create clear scoring chances, with Sannat’s goalkeeper largely untroubled. Sannat, meanwhile, were organised defensively and more threatening on the break, taking a one-goal lead into halftime.
3’ (Penalty protests) Zebbug protested for a penalty, alleging a handball when Andrew Ofulue attempted to break through the box.
32’ Zebbug goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba rushed out of the box to deny Aud-Gustine Obaje and Eric Gauci from scoring into an open goal.
34’ Saliba again came off his line to block Nicholas Grima, who had escaped the defence.
36’ (1-0) Sannat took the lead when Dylan Bellotti set up Aud-Gustine James Obaje, who surprised the goalkeeper with a well-placed finish.

Second Half
Zebbug tried to respond in the second half but left spaces in defence, allowing Sannat to remain a threat. Sannat doubled their lead early in the half and managed the game effectively until the final whistle.

2’ Zebbug replied with a good shot by Paul Spiteri, saved by Sannat goalkeeper Kyle Attard.
5’ Zebbug missed a golden opportunity to equalise when Harry Paulin’s shot was parried by Attard, and Andrew Ofulue astonishingly missed an open goal from close range.
7’ (2-0) Zebbug paid for their miss as Sannat doubled their lead. From a throw-in, Aud-Gustine Obaje crossed into the box, and Emanuel Bennici finished from close range.
14’ Zebbug had another chance from a Marco Ciangura free kick, but Andrew Ofulue’s poor header was easily saved by Attard.
29’ Sannat goalkeeper Kyle Attard saved a shot from substitute Christian Debono.
31’ The same goalkeeper Attard also dealt comfortably with another attempt by Marco Ciangura.
32’ Zebbug came close again from a corner, but Anthony Abela’s effort was blocked by goalie Attard for another corner.
