Ghajnsielem produced a commanding performance against bottom-placed Oratory Youths in the opening fixture of Match-Day 13, securing a resounding 5-0 victory that further condemned their opponents to the brink of relegation. This emphatic win widened the gap between the two sides, leaving Oratory a daunting fifteen points adrift of the play-off spot and with their survival hopes fading fast.
The Blacks set the tone for their dominant display with a blistering first half, capitalising on multiple scoring opportunities to race into a three-goal lead. The Blacks reduced their attacking intent after the break and although they continued to produce danger on Oratory’s goal they were often erratic in their finishing. As a result, the demoralised Oratory side were allowed to come out of their defence and they not only kept a respectable score but also ended the encounter by scoring a consolation goal.
With these vital three points, Ghajnsielem has now drawn level with SK Victoria Wanderers in the battle to avoid the dreaded play-off spot, while Oratory remains winless and on the verge of mathematical relegation.
