Kercem Ajax moved closer to become mathematically champions of the lower category
even though we are still six match days away from the end of the campaign with
three more points earned from a 6-0 win over bottom-placed Gharb Rangers. With this
result, Kercem extended their perfect run with a clean sheet to nine matches.

Kercem dominated this encounter although they had to wait just over thirty minutes to
open the score. Gharb tried to make it difficult for their opponents to win by repeating their performance in the match between the two sides of the first
round. However, Gharb lost composure after conceding the first goal and compromised

all their efforts by suffering two more goals before the break. Kercem continued to

control play throughout the second period and made sure of the win by scoring on
three other occasions. Kercem’s Brazilian striker Cesar Velez Da Silva was once again
a main protagonist for his side and scored a hat-trick to consolidate his leadership as the
top scorer of the category.

Timeline:
Kercem took command of play from the opening minutes but during the first half-hour
of play, Gharb resisted well and managed to deny Kercem’s strikers from opening the
score. However, the Rangers lost composure after conceding the first goal and
Kercem took full advantage so that Ajax took the break with a comfortable three–
goal lead.
5’ Gharb’s goalie Andre Micallef was called to make an important intervention to save a
header by Samuel Azzopardi from a corner action.

header that was blocked by Gharb’s goalie.
26’ In another good action by Kercem, a shot by Cesar Velez Da Silva was saved with
difficulty by Gharb’s keeper.

a free kick by Samuel Azzopardi that ended out of the reach of Gharb’s goalie.
40’ (0-2) The Ajax doubled their lead when Gharb’s defence failed to clear the ball from
their area and Cesar Velez Da Silva took possession and netted with a shot from a
good position.

goalkeeper left his position in an attempt to block the danger

Second Half
Kercem continued to dictate matters after the resumption while Gharb struggled to
produce any danger towards Kercem’s goal. Kercem converted their superiority by
scoring on three occasions and left the field of play with a large win.
13’ (0-4) Kercem added another goal through Cesar Velez Da Silva who arrived on the
ball before Gharb’s goalie Andre Micallef and headed easily into an open goal.

26’ (0-5) Kercem’s substitute Damian Depasquale passed through Gharb’s defence with
a personal action but his pass aimed towards Samuel Azzopardi was partially blocked
by goalie Andre Micallef and substitute Lorenzo Atzori took the ball and fired in the net
from a close distance.

headed in the net by Cesar Velez Da Silva who also marked a personal hat-trick.
