Leaders Nadur Youngsters had an excellent start to the third round of the main
championship in Gozitan Football as they registered a 6-0 win over Ghajnsielem. With
this result, Nadur not only extended their perfect run to ten matches but also defended
their one-point lead over their closest rivals for the title Qala Saints.
Nadur, who had central defender De Jesus De Santana missing due to a suspension,
practically made sure of this win with three goals scored during the opening stages of the
encounter. The Youngsters dominated play throughout the first half and they could
have entered the break with a larger margin. In this match Nadur’s striker Rafael
Conrado Prudente confirmed his excellent moment of form since he joined the club in
January as he marked a second consecutive hat-trick and took his tally to eight goals in
three matches.
Ghajnsielem, who earned the full points at stake from the match against Nadur of the
first round compromised their chances to repeat a surprise result during the first half
hey were forced to defend for most of the time and found it very difficult to neutralise
Nadur’s pressure. Ghajnsielem continued to suffer Nadur’s play after the break but the
latter took their foot off the pedal and the Blacks managed to deny their opponents from
scoring more goals.

Timeline:
Nadur was very aggressive in the opening stages and paved the way to the convincing
win by scoring three goals during the opening minutes. Ghajnsielem seemed
demoralised and as time passed by they continued to concede Nadur’s play and had
few opportunities where they could have threatened Nadur’s rearguard.
2’ Ghajnsielem had the first scoring opportunity of the encounter as Daza Carranza
delivered the ball inside Nadur’s area from a free kick but the header by Kiao Nunes
Santos was saved with difficulty to a corner by goalie Steve Sultana.
5’ (0-1) Nadur opened the score when Ghajnsielem’s goalie Luke Buttigieg cleared
badly a cross by Brandon Said and Rafael Conrado Prudente took the ball and netted
with a low shot.
8’ (0-2) Nadur doubled their lead when a header by Rafael Conrado Prudente from a
corner action hit the crossbar and from the resultant melee Brandon Said pushed the
ball across the fatal line.

after exchanging the ball with Conrado Prudente ended wide.

released Rafael Conrado Prudente and the latter entered Ghajnsielem’s area, turned
around his direct opponent and placed in goal with a low shot.
19’ Nadur’s Brazilian striker Prudente could have scored another goal but his header
from a cross by Diego Pires Dall’Oca ended wide.
24’ Ghajsnielem had an opportunity to reduce the score when Nadur’s goalie Steve
Sultana cleared the ball at the edge of the area to deny Daza Carranza from hitting
towards goal but the attempt on the run by Alberto Xuereb ended wide.

effort by Rafael Conrado Prudente after receiving from Diego Pires Dall’Oca.

the danger from their area.

Second Half
Nadur continued to dictate matters after the resumption although they reduced their
intensity on Ghajnsielem’s defence so that the actions on goal became rare.
1’ Ghajnsielem’s goalie Luke Buttigieg was called to make a good intervention to block
a header by Brandon said following a cross by Diego Pires Dall’
Oca.
13’ (0-5) Nadur added another goal when Ian Xuereb delivered a cross from the right
flank and Brandon Said concluded in goal with a header from a close distance.
24’ Nadur were again dangerous when a cross by substitute Matthias Mercieca arrived
to Brandon Daid who headed towards the goal but goalie Luke Buttigieg saved the danger
to a corner.
39’ (red card) Ghajnsielem were reduced to ten players when central defender Lautaro
Jose’ Luis Pizzo was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul just outside
his area. Ghajnsielem’s coach Darko Stojanovic was also shown a red card and was
sent off from his bench for protests.
