SK Victoria Wanderers earned three points with a 3-1 victory over Nadur Youngsters, which not only secured them fourth place in the standings but also gives them the chance to claim third place in their final league match.

This match had no bearing on the top of the table or relegation, as Nadur had already lost the opportunity to compete for the title based on the results from the previous round, while SK Victoria Wanderers were already safe from the Play-Off. As a result, both teams approached the match without pressure, aiming simply for a positive result. Throughout the game, SK Victoria Wanderers appeared more motivated, and after building a two-goal lead, they managed the match with confidence.

A standout in this match was Victoria’s striker Igor Da Silva Costa, who scored a goal and maintained his position as the top scorer of the league.

Timeline:

In the first half, the game developed into an interesting encounter with several good attacking plays at both ends. The Wanderers responded well after conceding an early goal and turned the result around to go into halftime with a one-goal advantage.

2’ (0-1) Nadur opened the scoring when Rafael Conrado Prudente exchanged passes with Matthias Mercieca at the edge of the box and beat the goalkeeper with a low shot.

6’ (1-1) The Wanderers equalized when a cross from the right by David Garba was headed into the net by Igor Henrique Da Silva Costa.

13’ (2-1). Victoria took the lead through a direct corner kick by Matthias Cordina, which surprised the defence.

18’ Nadur responded with a shot by Diego Dall’Oca, but it went wide.

24’ Nadur goalkeeper Steve Sultana made a good save on a dangerous shot by Da Silva Costa.

32’ Nadur were threatening again, but a fast shot by Dall’Oca flew over the bar.

33’ SK Victoria Wanderers launched an attack initiated by Weder Soares, who was brought down before entering the box. In the same play, Aaron Touarha’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. The referee awarded a free kick for the foul on Soares, but Da Silva Costa’s effort from the free kick went over the goal.

HT (2-1)

Second Half:

In the second half, Victoria came out more aggressively, putting the opposing defence under pressure on several occasions in the early minutes. Nadur began to operate more on the counterattack but created few serious chances on goal. The Wanderers managed to extend their lead just past the hour mark, which allowed them to comfortably manage the rest of the game.

19’ (1-3). Victoria scored their third goal when Emerson Zammit took the ball off the defence, avoided a defender, and scored with a low shot.

26’ Nadur had a good chance to reduce the score when Joseph Zammit set up Rafael Conrado Prudente inside the box, but the striker’s weak effort from a good position was easily saved by goalkeeper Omar Xuereb.
