Sannat Lions lost the possibility to regain sole leadership on the table as they dropped two precious points in their match from match-day 13 of the campaign against Zebbug Rovers.  Sannat held territorial supremacy for most of the encounter but they did not manage to convert their play in goals.  Zebbug suffered during the opening half hour of the encounter but their defensive department gained confidence for the rest of the match and managed to control Sannat’s play for the rest of the match.  Zebbug also took the lead with a goal that arrived during the opening stages of the second period but conceded the equaliser in during moments of the match.  With this result Sannat are one point behind the other two challengers for promotion Gharb Rangers and St Lawrence Spurs.

In the second minute of play Zebbug’s goalie Christian Cassar managed to block a close ranged attempt by Sunday Baala who was alone in the area.  Sannat were again dangerous on 13 minutes but Daniel Borg’s shot was also saved by Zebbug’s keeper and five minutes later a free kick by Sannat’s Omar Xuereb was stopped by the post.  Zebbug replied on 31 minutes through an attempt by Ikechukwu Igwemeke that ended high and on 43 minutes Sannat’s Ajibade Adesina had an effort following a short clearance by the defence that ended wide.

Zebbug opened the score on 49 minutes when Sannat’s goalie failed to clear a free kick by Ejofor Nkwocha and Ikechukwu Igwemeke concluded easily into an open goal.  Sannat’s reaction was sterile and on two separate occasions free kicks by Ajibade Adesina and Josiah Buttigieg ended wide.  On 67 minutes Sannat’s Sunday Baala had a good shot that ended wide.  Five minutes later Zebbug’s goalie Christian Cassar saved with difficulty to a corner a shot by David Udo Monday and on 78 minutes a free kick by Sannat’s substitute Nicholas Micallef ended wide.  Sannat managed to score the equaliser on 85 minutes when Sunday Baala controlled a ball inside the area despite the pressure form a direct opponent and the striker netted with a low shot.  Sannat tried hard to turn the result in their favour in the remaining minutes but the only dangerous action arrived on 87 minutes when they also had a goal by David Udo Monday disallowed for an offside position.
