Sannat Lions recovered from a negative patch, during which they compromised their possibilities to remain with the challengers for promotion, with a convincing win over Munxar Falcons.  With this victory Sannat consolidated their third spot on the table and they are now aiming to end the season on a positive note.  The main protagonist in Sannat’s deserved win was their striker Sunday Baala who scored the four goals for his side and with these goals he remain serious challenger to become the top scorer of the category at the end of the campaign.

Munxar, who were coming from a series of good performances and positive results, could have opened the score in the fifth minute of play but Sannat’s keeper Angelo Brignoli left his position in time to take the ball before Jordi Parnis could conclude towards an open goal.  One minute later Sannat opened the score.  A shot by Joseph Zammit was saved with difficulty to a corner by Munxar’s keeper Lorjean Xuereb and from the resultant corner action a close ranged attempt by Sunday Baala was cleared off the line by Paul Parnis, Sannat’s Ajibade Adesina had a close ranged attempt that was blocked by the defence and Sunday Baala took the rebound and netted from close distance.  Munxar were shocked and ion 12 minutes Sannat doubled the score when Sunday Baala entered Munxar’s territory with a counter break and fired in goal with a low shot.  The Falcons replied one minute later through a shot by Jordi Parnis from an angled position that ended wide.  However, Munxar’s reaction was sterile and on 36 minutes Sannat went again close to scoring but Joseph Zammit’s shot after receiving from Mark Muscat ended just wide.

In the second minute of play of the second period Munxar had an effort by Francesco Cini that missed the target and two minutes later Sannat’s Joseph Zammit replied with a shot form an angled position that ended on the side of the net.  Sannat scored their third goal; on 55 minutes through a close ranged header by Sunday Baala following a cross by Mark Muscat.  Sannat were now in the driving seat and on 57 minutes Ajibade Adesina noted that Munxar’s goalie Lorjean Xuereb was out of his position, but the latter managed to recover in time and cleared the danger to a corner.  Five minutes later Sannat’s Sunday Baala entered Munxar’s territory with a personal action but from his inviting pass Joseph Zammit had his attempt blocked to a corner by defender Paul Parnis.  Munxar’s best opportunity to score a consolation goal arrived on 88 minutes but a free kick by Michael Mattias Uzor ended high and one minute later Sannat scored their fourth goal through a tap-in by Sunday Baala following a low cross by Joseph Zammit.
