Munxar Falcons started the campaign on an excellent note as they earned the full points at st5ake form their match against Zebbug Rovers.  The match as well contested during most of the first half but as time passed by they took territorial supremacy and paved with the way to the large win with a goal that arrived just before the hour mark.  Zebbug tried hard to obtain a positive result in their opening match of the campaign but they did not manage to capitalize from the chances that they created on Munxar’s goal and ended up committing defensive mistake that compromised the possibility to earn at least a point form this encounter.

Play was rather balanced during the first period where the two sides showed some limitations in their respective forward line.  Zebbug could have opened the score on 20 minutes but Josef Debrincat incredibly concluded wide when he was face to face with the goalkeeper.  The same striker went again close to scoring on 28 minutes when but his lob over the goalkeeper was weak and the same player failed to arrive on the ball so that the goalkeeper recovered well and cleared the danger.  Two minutes later Munxar’s Jordi Parnis had a low drive that was saved with difficulty to a corner by goalie Baskal Saliba and on 33 minutes Munxar’s Michael Matthias Uzor took the ball inside the area from a rebound following a shot by Frank Attard, but the former hit badly and the ball ended over the crossbar.  On 37 minutes Zebbug’s Gabriel Cordina headed wide form close distance following a corner kick by Ryan Grech and one minute later Munxar’s Oliver Curmi had a low shot from outside the area that ended wide.  Munxar continued to be more adventurous in their play during the final stages of the first half and on 42 minutes they went again close to scoring through a shot by Michael Matthias Uzor following a personal action that ended wide.

The Falcons increased their efforts after the break and took full command of play.  On 59 minutes they also managed to open the score through a tap-in by Oliver Curmi following a low cross by substitute Mario Azzopardi.  Zebbug went very close to level the score four minutes later when Chris Borg took the ball from Munxar’s defense but he hesitated to conclude so that goalie Liam Gatt took the ball and neutralized the danger.  Munxar practically put their mind at rest from the three points on 77 minutes when Jordi Parnis entered Zebbug’s area from the left flank and placed in goal with a low drive.  During the final stages Zebbug tried to produce a reaction but they failed to create serious scoring opportunities but ended up conceding space at their defense.  Unxar capitalized form the situation and made sure of the victory with two goals scored during stoppage time.  In the second ,minute of stoppage time a strike by Munxar’s Samuel Muscat was blocked by Zebbug’s defense and from the rebound the ball arrived to an unmarked Jordi Parnis who fired in goal from close distance.  Less than a minute later Munxar scored their fourth goal through a low shot into an open goal by Michael Matthias Uzor following a low cross by Jordi Parnis.
