In the last match from Match Day 9 of the second division campaign in Gozitan football, Munxar Falcons produced an impressive comeback against Zebbug Rovers to recover a three-goal deficit in the final moments of the encounter. With this result, Munxar defended their placing on the table with a two-point lead over the same Zebbug but in the end, the outcome of the encounter did not satisfy either side as they both fell behind the teams who were challenging for the runners-up position.
The final score of this match reflects Zebbug’s performance throughout the campaign this season. The Rovers produced better play for most of the time in this match against Munxar, as they did in other previous matches, but they lacked experience and ended up conceding the comeback by their opponents and drop important points. Zebbug had a three-goal lead with less than ten minutes before the end of the match but left the field of play with just one point when they were so close to improving their position in the standings. On the other hand, Munxar confirmed that they cannot come out of the difficult period which has been going on since the matches of the first round. However, during the final stages of this match, they showed character and recovered a three-goal deficit to earn a point which could be a turning point for the remaining matches of the campaign.

Timeline:
Zebbug came out in better shape and practically took command of play from the early stages so that Munxar were forced to defend with many players and the latter rarely produced danger towards Zebbug’s goal. The Rovers converted their supremacy by scoring two goals to take the break in a deserved lead.
3’ Munxar’s goalie Joel Micvallef was called to make a difficult save to block an attempt by Zebbug’s striker Andrew Chukwuwinke Ofulue.
15’ (0-1) The Rovers opened the score with a shot directly from a free kick by Marco Ciangura that ended beyond the reach of Munxar’s goalie.
25’ (0-2) Zebbug doubled their lead when Paul Spiteri unmarked Harry Paulin who fired in goal from an ideal position.

Second Half
Zebbug continued to be the better side for most of the second period and managed to increase their lead but during the dying moments, Munxar produced a strong reaction and saved the result with a last-gasp goal.
3’ Muynxar’s goalie was again called to make a difficult save to block a shot by Harry Paulin and from the rebound Paul Spiteri failed to capitalise so that Munxar’s defence cleared the danger.
23’ (0-3) Zebbug scored their third goal through Josef Buttigieg who surprised Mu’s goalie with a shot directly from a free kick.
39’ (1-3) Munxar reduced the deficit when debutant Chris Ronaldo Bohui entered Zebbug’s area and netted with a low drive towards the far post.
40’ (red card) Zebbug were reduced to ten players in the following action which started from the kick-off as the Rovers passed the ball badly and Chris Ronaldo Bohui took the possession but was denied from entering alone inside the area by Josef Buttigieg. The latter was shown a red card and left the Rovers playing the last minutes with a player less on the field.
41’ (2-3) Munxar capitalised from the opportunity of the resultant free kick and re-opened the issue as the shot from the set-piece by Neil Mifsud ended out of the reach of Zebbug’s goalie.
42’ Munxar could have created more danger but a shot from a good position by Chris Ronaldo Bohui ended away from goal.
45+4’ (3-3) Munxar scored a dramatic equaliser when a cross by Neil Mifsud arrived to Daniel Azzopardi who surprised Zebbug’s goalie with an overhead kick.
