First Division league leaders Nadur Youngsters recorded their ninth consecutive victory by defeating Oratory Youths 7-3, maintaining their position at the top of the table at the end of the second round.

Oratory, still without a point after twelve matches, attempted to put up a fight, especially in the first half. However, their erratic defending and inconsistent attack ultimately cost them the match. Despite scoring two late goals to make the scoreline more respectable, they struggled to match Nadur’s dominance.

Nadur, on the other hand, continued their strong form, holding firm in defence while being clinical in attack, scoring seven goals through five different players. Striker Rafael Conrado Prudente was once again the standout performer, netting a hat-trick in just his second match since joining the team in January.

Timeline:

The first half saw an interesting contest as Oratory came out motivated to challenge their stronger opponents. However, Nadur managed to neutralize their attacks and capitalized on their chances to take a two-goal lead into the break.

4’ Oratory missed an opportunity to take the lead when Venegas Miranda entered the box but saw his low shot go wide.

17’ (0-1) Penalty – Nadur were awarded a penalty when Oratory’s Ryan Curmi fouled Diego Pires Dall’Oca, and Rafael Conrado Prudente converted from the spot.

23’ (0-2) Nadur doubled the lead following a contested action as a cross from Pires Dall’Oca that was blocked by Oratory’s defence initially resulted in a penalty decision, but after consulting the assistant referee, the call was changed to a corner. From the resulting set-piece taken by the same Dall’Oca, Rafael Conrado Prudente headed home.

26’ (1-2) Oratory pulled one back when Deison Arvey Cuero fired a shot into the top corner following a poor clearance by the Nadur defence.

29’ (1-3) Nadur restored their two-goal cushion when Olimpio Gabriel Fernandes’ attempt struck the post, and Brandon Said netted the rebound.

Second Half

Nadur took full control after the restart, extending their lead with four more goals. Oratory managed to capitalize on some defensive lapses in the closing stages, scoring twice to narrow the deficit.

1’ Oratory could have created more danger, but a shot from Rian Almeida Lopes went wide.

6’ Another missed opportunity for Oratory as Venegas Miranda’s header from an Almeida Lopes corner sailed off target.

7’ (1-4) Nadur increased their lead through a counterattack as Joseph Xerri won a challenge against the opposing goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net.

17’ (1-5) Nadur’s fifth goal came after Gabriel Farrugia set up Diego Pires Dall’Oca, who beat the keeper with a central strike.

22’ (1-6) Oratory continued to struggle under Nadur’s pressure, conceding another goal from an Igor De Jesus De Santana free-kick that deflected off the wall, deceiving the goalkeeper.

25’ (1-7) Nadur scored their final goal when Rafael Conrado Prudente won possession from the defence, rounded the goalkeeper, and finished from close range.

33’ (2-7) Oratory reduced the deficit as Nadur failed to clear a corner, allowing Geordie Ellis to address towards goal but goalie Steve Sultana made an initial save, and substitute Sean Attard pounced on the rebound to score.

39’ Nadur’s substitute goalkeeper Zak Vella made an important save to deny a powerful free-kick from Julius Ifeanyi Offorzor.

45’ Vella was called into action again, making a difficult stop from a long-range shot by Delan Saliba.

45+1’ (3-7) From the resulting corner, Nadur’s defence failed to clear, and Julius Ifeanyi Offorzor capitalized by slotting the ball into the net.
