St Lawrence Spurs and Munxar Falcons opened their campaign on a positive note,
sharing the spoils in an evenly matched 2–2 draw. It was a well-fought encounter in
which both teams had their moments and either side could have emerged victorious.
This match confirmed expectations that this season’s Second Division competition
will be a tightly contested one, as both teams appear to be on a similar level. Munxar
had the better start and even missed a penalty, but St Lawrence showed resilience,
twice coming from behind to salvage a deserved point late in the game.

Timeline
First Half:
The match started at a lively pace, with both sides finding the net in their very first
attacks. As the half progressed, both teams attempted to push forward, but the
defences held firm, limiting clear chances and keeping the score level.
4’ (0–1) Munxar took the lead when Ayesller Carvalho broke through on the left and
delivered a low cross that Luke Meilak converted at the second attempt.
8’ (1–1) St Lawrence quickly equalised when Jurgen Mario Portelli advanced down
the left and sent in a low cross, which Felipe Augusto met with a simple tap-in.
21’ St Lawrence threatened again with a free kick by Felipe Augusto, but the goalkeeper
Gabriel Saliba made a fine save.
32’ The Munxar goalkeeper was called into action once more, blocking another
dangerous free kick from Felipe Augusto.

Second Half:
The second half maintained the same balance as both St Lawrence and Munxar
continued to push for the lead, with more dangerous chances created on both ends.
Munxar missed a penalty but later restored their lead, only for St Lawrence to strike
back once again in the closing minutes to earn a fair draw.
48’ St Lawrence were unlucky when a strike by Jurgen Mario Portelli hit the post
with the goalkeeper beaten.
50’ Munxar replied with a header from Ayesller Carvalho that sailed over the bar.
53’ (Penalty missed) – Munxar were awarded a penalty after a challenge between
Christian Grima and Luke Meilak, but Ayesller Carvalho’s effort was saved by
goalkeeper Joel Micallef, who turned it into a corner.
76’ (1–2) Munxar regained the lead when substitute Dylan Paul Rapa anticipated
the goalkeeper’s movement and lobbed the ball into an empty net following a
counterattack.
84’ (2–2) St Lawrence earned their second equaliser through Charlon Farrugia,
whose powerful shot from outside the area gave the goalkeeper no chance to
intervene.
