SK Victoria Wanderers recovered from two consecutive league defeats by securing three important points with a 5–0 victory over Xaghra United. With this result, the Wanderers moved away from the lower end of the table and widened the gap over Xagħra, who remain bottom without a single point after five matches.
This match was seen as a direct clash between the two teams occupying the last two places in the standings, with Xaghra also seeking their first points of the season in an effort to move out of the relegation zone. However, the match turned out to be a comfortable win for the Wanderers, who scored early, controlled their opponents’ weak reaction, and doubled their lead before halftime. They then sealed the result with further goals in the second half. Victoria’s forward Caique Souza was the standout performer, netting a personal hat-trick. The Wanderers’ display in this encounter confirmed their potential to be more competitive and to improve their position in the league.
In this match, Victoria’s defence looked well-organised and, for the first time this season, they managed to keep a clean sheet. In attack, they were highly effective, creating danger with almost every offensive move. On the other hand, Xaghra continued to show the limitations that have made it difficult for them to collect points. Despite the players’ commitment and fighting spirit, they repeatedly compromised their chances of positive results with defensive lapses, while their attack lacked sharpness, with forwards often isolated against well-organised defences.
