In the final match of Match-Day 4 of the Second Division campaign, Gharb Rangers recorded a convincing 3–1 victory over Munxar Falcons to keep pace with Sannat Lions at the top of the standings.
Gharb fully deserved their win, having controlled the game throughout the 90 minutes and allowing Munxar very few chances to get into the match. They opened a two-goal lead early on, which enabled them to manage the game better, while in the second half they neutralised Munxar’s efforts to protect their advantage.

Timeline
First Half
Gharb started aggressively and scored twice in the opening phase, leaving Munxar looking demoralised and struggling to respond.
1’ Munxar were dangerous through an angled shot by Ayesller Carvalho, but the ball went wide.
2’ Gharb responded immediately when a free kick by Damon Hili was met by a header from Wesley Barnaske, which went just wide.
8’ Gharb threatened again with a shot from Wesley Barnaske, which missed the target.
14’ Gharb went close to taking the lead when Wesley Barnaske won the ball after pressing the goalkeeper, but the Brazilian attacker’s overhead attempt went wide.
18’ (0–1) Gharb opened the scoring with a superb goal by Wesley Barnaske, who controlled the ball inside the box and surprised the goalkeeper with a half-volley.
22’ (0–2) Gharb doubled the lead when Wesley Barnaske capitalised on a defensive error and finished easily into the net.
26’ Munxar goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba made a fine save to deny Damon Hili following a move involving Kenny Hili.
32’ Munxar had their best chance of the half through Owen Grech, but his shot was saved by Gharb goalkeeper Luke Buttigieg.

Second Half
Munxar came out with renewed determination, while Gharb stayed organised in defence and relied more on counter-attacks, making the game more open.
5’ Munxar wasted a good chance when a cross by Paul Vella reached Luke Meilak at the far post, but the substitute shot wide from a good position.
8’ Another Munxar attempt by Owen Grech went off target.
10’ Gharb goalkeeper Luke Buttigieg denied Luke Meilak with a fine save.
11’ Gharb nearly extended their lead through Kenny Hili, but with the goalkeeper off his line, his shot was cleared off the goal line by Kristen Vella.
24’ Buttigieg was called into action again to save a free kick by Ayesller Carvalho.
31’ (0–3) Gharb effectively sealed the win when Damon Hili scored with a central shot following a low cross from the left by Wesley Barnaske.
34’ (Red card) Gharb were reduced to ten men when defender Emmanuel Galea was sent off for denying Wesley Barnaske a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
36’ From the resulting free kick, Damon Hili tested Gabriel Saliba again, who made the save.
40’ Munxar remained threatening with another effort from Ayesller Carvalho, which went wide.
45+2’ (1–3) Munxar scored a consolation goal through a long-range effort by Geordie Debono, which caught the goalkeeper by surprise.
