St Lawrence Spurs secured three valuable points with a 3–1 victory over Munxar Falcons, maintaining their place among the promotion contenders at the end of Match-Day 6 of the campaign. Both teams went into this match in search of a win, but for different reasons: Munxar are still looking for their first victory of the season and are eager to move off the bottom of the standings, while St Lawrence are aiming to remain among the teams at the top of the table. In addition, both sides were keen to claim all three points after their first-round encounter had ended in a draw.
For long stretches of the match, Munxar went toe-to-toe with their opponents, but St Lawrence proved more threatening and built a two-goal advantage that made it difficult for Munxar to mount a comeback. Munxar reduced the deficit in the latter stages, but St Lawrence remained solid at the back and sealed the win with a third goal in the final minute of normal time.

Timeline
First Half:
Munxar looked more adventurous in the opening half and applied pressure on the St Lawrence defence, but failed to create clear-cut scoring opportunities. St Lawrence stayed well organised at the back and capitalised on a counter-attack to take the lead, allowing them to manage the game more comfortably until the interval.
2’ Munxar had the first attempt on goal when Aysller Carvalho struck from a good position, but goalkeeper Joel Micallef saved comfortably.
16’ (0–1) St Lawrence opened the scoring after winning possession in midfield, with Michael Xuereb releasing Felipe Augusto, who beat the goalkeeper with a low shot into the corner.
18’ (Penalty appeal) St Lawrence appealed for a penalty after Gabriel Debrincat went down in the area following pressure from defender Eman Bugeja.
35’ Munxar threatened when Oliver Curmi’s header went over the bar.
37’ St Lawrence missed a golden chance as Felipe Augusto broke clear of the defence, rounded the goalkeeper outside the area, but Gabriel Debrincat astonishingly fired over from the resulting pass with the goal at his mercy.
43’ Munxar could have done better when Oliver Curmi’s weak header from Eman Bugeja’s free-kick was saved comfortably by Joel Micallef.
44’ Munxar again went close, but Aysller Carvalho’s header flew over the bar.
HT (0–1)
Second Half:
St Lawrence continued to control proceedings after the break and doubled their advantage, but missed further chances to put the game to bed. Munxar pulled a goal back and began to believe they could salvage a result. The match became tense for a period, but St Lawrence ensured all three points with a late goal.
16’ (0–2) St Lawrence doubled their lead when Felipe Augusto advanced down the left, entered the area and beat the goalkeeper with an angled shot.
20’ St Lawrence nearly added a third, but Felipe Augusto’s free-kick was tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba.
26’ The Munxar goalkeeper was again called into action to block another strong effort by Felipe Augusto.
31’ (1–2) Munxar reduced the deficit when substitute Luke Meilak struck after a defensive clearance.
43’ St Lawrence responded with a shot by Felipe Augusto, which was saved for a corner by Gabriel Saliba.
44’ (1–3) St Lawrence wrapped up the three points when Felipe Augusto delivered a cross from the right and an unmarked Gabriel Debrincat headed home from close range.
45+2’ Munxar could have pulled another goal back, but Aysller Carvalho’s cross-shot was saved onto the post by Joel Micallef, and from the resulting corner Oliver Curmi’s close-range effort went wide.
