In the final match of Match-Day 10 of the First Division championship, Ghajnsielem recorded a convincing 3–1 victory over Nadur Youngsters, allowing them to keep pace with the teams at the top of the table and maintain their hopes of returning to first place.
This was an important encounter for both sides, each seeking points for different reasons. Nadur are fighting to move away from the relegation zone, while Ghajnsielem were keen to confirm that they deserve their current position in the standings. Ghajnsielem adopted a cautious approach in the early stages but made the most of two scoring opportunities in the first half, which allowed them to neutralise Nadur’s efforts after the break and comfortably see out the result.
As a consequence of this defeat, Nadur remained second from bottom in the table, just one point above the last-placed side, underlining the difficult campaign they continue to face in their bid to retain their place in the top division next season.

Timeline
First Half:
Nadur started with determination and attempted to take control of the match in the opening stages in an effort to make up for their disappointing result in the previous round. However, Ghajnsielem defended well and allowed very few opportunities to the opposing attackers. Midway through the first half, Ghajnsielem took control of the match by opening the scoring and then strengthened their lead with a second goal before the interval.
5’ Nadur came close to surprising their opponents when, from a corner, a header by debutant David Oliveira went just wide.
17’ Nadur threatened again through a well-placed shot by Sylvan Xuereb, but defender Alberto Xuereb blocked the effort in front of goal.
23’ (0–1) Ghajnsielem took the lead when Joshua Buttigieg delivered a cross from the left and Atem Jok, making his first appearance in Gozo football, anticipated the goalkeeper and headed into the net.
36’ (Post) Ghajnsielem nearly added another goal when Ewerton Tom went on a personal run, but his effort was deflected by goalkeeper Zak Vella onto the post, with the defence then clearing the danger.
39’ (0–2) Ghajnsielem doubled their advantage after Daniel Murillo won the ball near Nadur’s penalty area, Ewerton Tom followed the action and passed to Deison Cuero, who surprised the goalkeeper with a central shot.
45+3’ Nadur goalkeeper Zak Vella rushed off his line to block Atem Jok, who was through on goal from the right.

Second Half:
Nadur increased their efforts after the restart in an attempt to reduce the deficit, while Ghajnsielem adopted a more cautious approach to manage their lead, resulting in few clear-cut chances. As the half progressed, Ghajnsielem found more space in the opposing defence and became increasingly dangerous, eventually scoring a third goal that effectively sealed the match.
31’ (Crossbar) The first clear chance of the second half fell to Ghajnsielem when, from a throw-in, substitute Michael Bezzina headed on and Atem Jok’s angled shot struck the crossbar.
33’ (0–3) Ghajnsielem scored their third goal when Michael Bezzina received the ball at the edge of the area, controlled well and beat the goalkeeper with a low shot.
40’ (1–3) Nadur netted a consolation goal when David Oliveira met a cross from Owen Peter Bugeja and headed into the net, catching the defence off guard.
44’ Nadur goalkeeper Zak Vella denied Ghajnsielem a fourth goal by saving a well-struck effort from Michael Bezzina.
