Qala Saints secured three important points with a convincing 4–0 victory over Nadur Youngsters. This win not only avenged the defeat Qala had suffered against Nadur in the first-round encounter, but also allowed them to keep pace with the teams at the top of the table, strengthening their belief that they can remain in contention for the championship title.
The match was played in difficult conditions due to strong winds, yet throughout the 90 minutes, Qala dominated their opponents and deservedly claimed the win, scoring two goals in each half. Qala’s Brazilian striker, Wallisson Bahia, who previously played in the Maltese Premier League with Tarxien Rainbows, enjoyed an excellent debut, scoring twice at decisive moments of the match.
On the other hand, Nadur entered this match motivated to repeat the result they had achieved against Qala in the first round. However, during the contest, they never looked capable of overturning the deficit and once again suffered a heavy defeat, remaining in the relegation zone.
Timeline
First Half:
Qala started the match with the wind in their favour and were more adventurous from the opening minutes, seeking to take advantage of the conditions. As time went on, they increased the pressure on Nadur’s defence. Nadur tried to limit the danger and frustrate their opponents, but Qala’s efforts were rewarded as they opened the scoring and then doubled their lead shortly before the interval.
11’ Qala threatened when debutant Wallisson Bahia delivered a cross from the right that reached Ibrahim Mohammed, but the Ghanaian forward mishit his effort after beating a defender and the ball went wide.
16’ Qala had another opportunity when a free kick by Bruno Da Cruz flew past the target.
27’ (1–0) Qala took the lead after sustained pressure in Nadur’s defensive area. A shot by Matteo Camilleri found Wallisson Bahia unmarked, who controlled well and finished into the net.
33’ Qala went close again when Bruno Da Cruz advanced with a personal run, but his attempt was blocked by goalkeeper Zak Vella. From the same move, a shot by substitute Jordi Parnis was saved for a corner.
36’ (penalty appeals) Nadur appealed for a penalty when David Oliveira entered the area from the right but went down under pressure from central defender Junior Sergipe.
37’ (2-0) In the following action, Qala caught their opponents off guard when a long clearance was not dealt with by the defence, allowing Joseph Zammit to lob the goalkeeper with a header, the ball ending up in an empty net.

Second Half:
Qala made a flying start to the second half, scoring twice in quick succession. Nadur appeared demoralised, while Qala slowed the tempo and comfortably managed their advantage until the final whistle.
2’ (3–0) Qala extended their lead when Wallisson Bahia set up Bruno Da Cruz, who beat the goalkeeper with a low finish.
4’ (4–0) Qala all but sealed the three points with the fourth goal, which came from an individual move by Wallisson Bahia, who ran centrally into the area and lobbed the ball into the net.
8’ Wallisson Bahia went close to adding another goal, but his close-range effort was deflected for a corner by the defence.
15’ (disallowed goal) Qala thought they had increased the score after a free kick by Joseph Zammit was poorly cleared, allowing substitute Kurt Mifsud to direct the ball towards goal, with Junior Sergipe finishing into the net. However, the goal was ruled out for offside.
38’ Nadur had their best chance to score a consolation goal, but a shot by Diego Rodriguez went wide.
45’ Qala could have sealed the win with another goal, but Wallisson Bahia’s effort from a good position sailed over the bar.
