Qala Saints secured a 3–1 victory in the second leg of the BOV GFA Cup semi-final, allowing them to make up for their league disappointment by advancing to challenge for the second most important honour in Gozitan football.
In this match, Qala showed greater experience, as they managed to withstand early pressure when the Wanderers were more offensive. As the game progressed, they gradually came out of defence and made better use of their scoring opportunities, eventually securing qualification convincingly. The standout performer for Qala was Ghanaian striker Ibrahim Mohammed, who scored two goals and remained a constant threat to the Wanderers’ defence throughout the ninety minutes.
On the other hand, this elimination for Victoria confirmed the team’s limitations throughout the season. Despite producing good football in certain phases, they often compromised results due to lapses in concentration. It appears that the team needs to improve in quality if they are to compete for top honours in Gozitan football’s top division.
Timeline
First Half:
SK Victoria Wanderers started better and dominated the opening half-hour but failed to capitalise on good scoring chances. Towards the end of the half, Qala grew into the game and took the lead just before the break.
2’ Wanderers could have been more dangerous, but a weak shot from a good position by Matthias Cordina was easily saved by goalkeeper Owen Attard.
6’ Victoria threatened through a shot on the run by Nicolas Orozco, but the ball went wide.
22’ (penalty appeals) Victoria appealed for a penalty when a cross by Sam Harland was blocked in the box. The referee awarded a corner; from it, Luke Fenech’s delivery found Ender Vielma, whose header went wide.
26’ Another chance for Victoria, but Ender Vielma’s shot missed the target.
35’ Qala created a good counterattack as Gilberto Carrara passed to Wallisson Bahia, whose shot was deflected before defender Andre Cutler cleared for a corner.

Second Half:
The second half remained balanced, with both teams scoring early goals, leaving qualification uncertain until Qala netted a decisive third goal late on.

6’ Qala responded with a shot from Ibrahim Mohammed that went wide.
9’ (2–1) Qala regained the lead when Jordi Parnis delivered a cross from the left that cut through the defence, and Nicholas Inguanez scored first time.
17’ (penalty appeals) Qala appealed for a penalty after Gilberto Carrara went down in the box under pressure.
24’ Qala threatened again through an overhead kick by Ibrahim Mohammed, but it went wide.
