Xewkija Tigers made up for the defeat conceded in their previous match of the championship and obtained a 4-0 win over bottom-placed Gharb Rangers. Xewkija produced more offensive play and also several scoring opportunities so that the outcome of the encounter was only in contention for the first minutes of the encounter. In this match, Xewkija were determined to express all their potential in attack and managed to score their four goals through four different players.

Timeline:
Xewkija tried to take command of play from the early stages but Gharb managed to resist to the initial pressure and midway through the first half they also created opportunities where they could have surprised their more quoted opponents.
6’ Xewkija created their first scoring opportunity through a header by Johnny Camilleri following a cross by Jackson De Lima that ended high.
9’ Gharb’s keeper Daniel Spiteri was well placed and blocked in time a close-ranged shot by Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior.
10’ Xewkija went again close to scoring through a free kick by Jackson De Lima but the ball ended just high.
14’ Gharb’s keeper was again called to make another difficult intervention when he turned to a corner a free kick by Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior.
16’ The same goalkeeper also turned to another corner with some difficulty an attempt from long distance by Jackson De Lima.
19’ In another action by Xewkija a header by Rodney Buttigieg following a cross by Jackson De Lima ended wide.
20’ Xrewkija’s Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior had a shot that was partially saved by Gharb’s keeper and the defence recovered in time so that the ball was cleared from the danger area.
22’ Gharb could have opened the score when Olimpio Gabriel Fernandes passed to Samwel Muscat but the latter saw his low shot from the edge of the area that ended just wide with the goalkeeper beaten.
27’ Gharb once again threatened Xewkija’s defence but Aleksandar Komiljenovic hit badly from close distance following a cross by Samwel Muscat and the ball ended wide.

Gharb tried to produce a reaction after the break but Xewkija managed to defend their lead with authority and continued to be more dangerous in their play.
13’ Xewkija went close to increase their lead when Michael Camilleri passed inside Gharb’s area to Johnny Camilleri but the latter had his close-ranged attempt that was well saved bu Gharb’s keeper Daniel Spiteri.
14’ In another action by Xewkija, a shot from a good position by Johnny Camilleri was blocked to a corner by defender Daniel Sakic.
22’ Xewkija were also dangerous through a shot from outside the area by Claudio Frances that ended high.
26’ Gharb’s goalie Daniel Spiteri was again called to make a difficult save to block a first-timer by Johnny Camilleri following a cross by Jackson De Lima.
27’ Xewkija were again denied another goal with a fine intervention by Gharb’s keeper following a shot by Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior.

36’ The same goalkeeper continued to be the protagonist of the match during the second period and partially saved a good shot by Claudio Frances, from the rebound the ball arrived at Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior who passed to Jackson De Lima but the latter had his low shot that was cleared off the line by Gharb’s defender Anthony Sultana and from the resultant melee, Claudio Frances had his attempt that hit the side of the net.
37’ (3-0) Xewkija managed to put their minds at rest from the win by scoring the third goal that arrived through an excellent strike from outside the area by Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior who received the ball from substitute Thomas Vella.
45’ (4-0) Xewkija made sure of the win by scoring the fourth goal that arrived through a close-ranged shot by Michael Camilleri following a cross from the right flank by Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior.
