Ghajnsielem recovered from two consecutive defeats in the championship with a deserved 3-0 win over SK Victoria Wanderers.  With the points obtained Ghajnsielem now moved to two points from the joint leaders and therefore regained their chances to defend the title that they won the last season.  The Blacks, who were without Rafael Kooh Sohna due to an injury and without Alex Tramboo due to a suspension, were the better side throughout the encounter.  The Wanderers, who had Sam Frank Bajada missing due to a suspension, managed to control Ghajnsielem’s supremacy during the first half but suffered the offensive play of their opponents during the second period and conceded three goals.

The Wanderers created the first scoring opportunity of the match.  In the second minute of play Predrag Dordevic had a shot from the edge of the area that ended wide and Ghajnsielem’s reply arrived on 20 minutes through a strike by Emiliano Lattes that ended away from Victoria’s goal.  On 36 minute Ghajnsielem’s defender Kenneth Mercieca made an important intervention to stop an initiative by Milanko Raskovic who was alone in the area.  Two minutes later Victoria’s goalie Branko Vrndic left his position in time to clear the danger before the danger before John Camilleri could hit towards goal.  The Wanderers had their best opportunity of the encounter on 41 minutes through a strike by Milanko Raskovic, following a pass by Predrag Dordevic, that ended just high.  Seconds before the end of the first half Ghajnsielem’s Chris Camilleri had an attempt from a good position following a corner action that ended high.

After the break Ghajnsielem increased their pressure and opened the score on 52 minutes through a lob by Damon Hili following a short clearance by Victoria’s defence from a corner action.  The Wanderers were demoralised and on 55 minutes a free kick by Chris Camilleri was saved with difficulty by goalie Branko Vrndic.  On the hour mark Ghajnsielem’s Kenneth Mercieca released Chris Camilleri.  The latter crossed inside the area but John Camilleri failed to connect from close distance.  Ghajnsielem doubled the score on 62 minutes through a direct free kick by Chris Camilleri that ended in goal despite the attempt of the goalkeeper to clear the danger.  One minute later the Wanderers ended with ten players when Chris Sciortino was sent off following a second bookable offence.  On 69 minutes Ghajnsielem’s Kenneth Mercieca had a shot that ended wide and two minutes later the Blacks practically sealed the victory with a third goal that arrived through a strike  by Chris Camilleri from an angled position following a personal action.  On 89 minutes Ghajnsielem could have score the fourth goal but John Camilleri’s attempt was saved to a corner by Victoria’s goalie Branko Vrndic.
