SUMMARY

Sannat Lions registered an 8-1 win over Zebbug Rovers in a match from Match-Day 7 of the campaign so that they extended their perfect start in the league to seven consecutive wins and defended their five point-lead over second-placed Oratory Youths.  Sannat dominated the match and practically had their minds at rest from the points before the end of the first half as they took the break with a comfortable four-goal lead. Sannat continued to dictate play after the break and scored on another four occasions.  In this match Sannat’s strikers, Antoine Camilleri and Ebube Ralph Okpokwu scored a hat-trick each and they are both sharing the top position of the Top-Scorers for the category with Oratory’s Bartomeu Perello Palu with nine goals each.

Sannat produced pressure over Zebbug’s defence from the early stages of the encounter.

10’  A header by Sannat’s Joseph Buttigieg following a free kick by Joseph Azzopardi ended wide.

13’  In another dangerous action by Sannat a shot by Christian Vella ended over the crossbar.

20’  A corner kick by Sannat’s Christian Debono arrived to Ebube Ralph Okpokwu who had a header that ended wide.

22’ (1-0)  Sannat opened the score when Ebube Ralph Okpokwu entered Zebbug’s area from the left flank and from his low cross Antoine Camilleri placed easily in goal from close distance.

24’  Sannat’s Ebube Ralph Okpokwu once again entered Zebbug’s area but concluded incredibly wide when he was face to face with the goalkeeper.

30’  (2-0) Joseph Zammit passed to Ebube Ralph Okpokwu inside Zebbug’s area, the latter turned around his direct opponent and netted with a low shot.

39’ (3-0)  Antoine Camilleri once again produced a personal action inside Zebbug’s area but had his close ranged attempt blocked by the defence.  From the resultant rebound the ball arrived to Ebube Ralph Okpokwu who concluded in goal with another low shot.

40’  Zebbug could have reduced the arrears when Frank Attard entered Sannat’s territory but goalie Matthew Muscat left his area in time and managed to clear the ball before the striker could conclude towards an open goal.

41’ (4-0)  Sannat added another goal through a fine header by Antoine Camilleri following a cross from the left flank by Christian Debono.

44’  Antoehr goal by Sannat’s Antoine Camilleri was disallowed for an offside infringement.

HT (4-0)

During the opening stages of the second period Sannat reduced their pressure and Zebbug found more space to operate some offensive play.  However, as time passed by Sannat regained full control of play and scored on another four occasions.

6’  Zebbug had an attempt from a free kick by Elijah Xuereb that was saved with some difficulty by Sannat’s keeper Matthew Muscat.
