The current leaders of the BOV Gozo Football League of the first division Nadur Youngsters recovered from the defeat conceded in their previous match of the championship and registered a 4-1 win over Ghajnsielem. With this result, Nadur defended their five-point lead over their closest rivals for the title and regained the necessary confidence at this crucial phase of the championship. Nadur held the initiative of play for most of the encounter. The Youngsters took the lead with a goal scored during the first half and resisted to Ghajnsielem’s reaction during the opening stages of the second period. Nadur also scored three goal without any reply and the Blacks only managed to score their consolation goal on the stroke of regular time.

Timeline:
Nadur were the better side from the early stages of the encounter but Ghajnsielem were well deployed and defended well so that the two goalkeepers were not called to make difficult interventions.
21’ Nadur operated their first opportunity to open the score when Johan Alberto Castano took the ball inside Ghajnsielem’s area and from his cross an overhead kick by Marcelo Barbosa was weak and Ghajnsielem’s goalie Franklin Vella saved without difficulty.
28’ (0-1) Nadur took the lead from an action produced by Chris Camilleri on the left flank and as soon as he entered the area he delivered a short cross that was met at the first post by Alberto Johan Castano and the latter converted from a close distance.
44’ Nadur had a good attempt by Shaun Attard from outside the area that ended wide.
45+1’ Nadur had another good occasion where they could have capitalised better but a header by Marcelo Barbosa when Ghajnsielem’s goalie was out of his position following a free-kick by Ian Xuereb ended wide.
HT (0-1)

Ghajnsielem tried to produce a reaction after the break-in an attempt to level the score but they ended up exposing their defence and Nadur took full advantage as they became more adventurous with their breaks.
50’ Ghajnsielem’s goalie Franklin Vella saved in two attempts a free kick by Chris Camilleri.
52’ (0-2) Nadur doubled the score through Stefan Cassar who exchanged the ball with Marcelo Barbosa and netted with a low drive towards the far post.
61’ Nadur were again dangerous through a low shot by Shaun Attard, after receiving from Johan Alberto Castano, but Ghajnsielem’s keeper Franklin Vella managed to save the danger.
66’ Ghajnsielem produced a good action through an initiative by Jhon Arboleda Valencia who entered Nadur’s area but his shot ended on the side of the net.
67’ (0-3) Nadur scored their third goal through a fine curling shot by Shaun Attard that ended out of the reach of Ghajnsielem’s keeper.
73’ Ghajnsielem’s keeper was called to make another good save following a low shot by Johan Alberto Castano.
75’ (0-4) Nadur’s fourth goal arrived through a shot on the run by substitute Brandon Said, who was on the field of play for just ten seconds, following a cross from the right flank by Gennaro Hili.
81’ Ghajnsielem could have capitalised better but a first-time from an ideal position by Igor Nedeljkovic ended away from Nadur’s goal.
83’ Nadur went again close to score another goal but a shot from a good position by Marcelo Barbosa ended wide.
90’ (1-4) (red card) penalty – Ghajnsielem were awarded a penalty for a foul by Gennaro Hili on Igor Nedeljkovic. Nadur’s defender was sent off the second bookable offence and Ghajnsielem’s striker scored the consolation goal for his side with the shot from the spot-kick.
