BOV Player of the Month December 2020

Xewkija Tigers’ Rodney Buttigieg is the BOV GFA Player of the Month for December 2020. The 29-year-old forward received his trophy from Horace Laudi, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta in the presence of his teammates and coach Alex Simoncic.

Buttigieg’s career kicked off at Xewkija, where he won numerous awards, both individually and at club level. His goal scoring instinct has helped Xewkija come out of tight spots many a time and is one of the three top all-time scorers for the Tigers. Xewkija had a great start to the 2020-2021 BOV GFA League with Buttigieg playing a central role in leading the younger players in the team this season.

During December, Xewkija were trailing SK Victoria Wanderers by 2 goals, when Buttigieg spurred his team’s comeback with their opening goal, with Xewkija winning the match 3-2. Again trailing Oratory Youths by the odd goal, Buttigieg turned the match into a victory with 2 goals.

Rodney Buttigieg chose Fondazzjoni Arka to benefit from the BOV donation associated with this award.
