Timeline

SK Victoria Wanderers came out more determined and dictated matters during the first part of the encounter.  However, Xewkija recovered well as time passed by and by the end of the first half they ended up in full control of play.

7’ Victoria created the first scoring opportunity when Owen Fenech delivered the ball in front of the goalmouth from a free kick, the defence cleared badly but Neil Camilleri ailed to take full advantage of the situation so that John Axiak managed to clear in time and goalie Franklin Vella saved all the danger.

9’ (0-1)  SK Vitoria Wanderers opened the score through a fine strike from an angled position by Emerson Zammit after receiving from Aud-Gistine James Obaje.

12’ Xewkija replied through a low shot by Thomas Vella that almost surprised Victoria’s keeper Giacomo Ratto, but the latter recovered well and blocked the danger with his feet.

14’ Victoria could have doubled the score when Sam Harland received the ball inside Xewkija’s area but his attempt form close distance was well blocked by goalie Franklin Vella.

15’ The Wanderers were again dangerous when Kersten Grima passed to Emerson Zammit from a free kick and the latter released Aud-Gustine Obaje who saw his low shot cross from an angled position cleared off the goalmouth by central defender Martin Hrubsa.

18’ Xewkija’s goalie Franklin Vella was well placed and neutralised a strike form outside the area by Emerson Zammit.

Xewkija managed to come out of their defence for the second part of the first period.

26’ Xewkija missed a good opportunity to level the score but a header by Martin Hrubsa from a corner kick by Josiah Buttigieg ended high.

34’ The same Hrubsa had another header, this time from a corner kick by Emiliano Lattes that also ended over the crossbar.

36’ Xewkija’s passed through Victoria’s rear guard with a personal action from the right flank but from his low inviting pass substitute Mark Dingli failed to conclude and the defence managed to clear the danger from the area with some difficulty.

41’ (1-1) Xewkija scored the equaliser when Emiliano Lattes entered Victoria’s territory with a personal action and his strike form outside the area got a deflection by a defender so that the ball went out of the reach of the goalkeeper and ended in goal.

HT (1-1)

Xewkija maintained their momentum after the break and continued to produce pressure on their opponents until they put their minds at rest from the win.

10’ (2-1) Xewkija turned the result in their favour when Emiliano Lattes released Mark Dingli in a counter break and the latter entered the area and fired on goal from an angled position.

16’ Xewkija had an attempt directly from a free kick by Emiliano Lattes that ended wide.

28’ (3-1) Xewkija made sure of the qualification by scoring the third goal that arrived through a header by Martin Hrubsa following a corner kick by Emiliano Lattes.

36’ SK Victoria Wanderers had their first attempt towards Xewkija’s goal during the second period when Xewkija’s keeper was out of his position and lost the possession following the pressure by Aud-Gustine James Objae.  The ball arrived to Sam Harland but his aim to address the ball towards the open goal missed the target and the defence cleared the danger.

39’ The Wanderers protested for a penalty when Aud-Gustine James Obaje tried to pass inside Xewkija’s area but ended on the floor following a challenge with an opponent.

45+1’Victoria’s last scoring opportunity fell to Gabriel Cardona who was unmarked inside Xewkija’s area by Aud-Gustine James Obaje but the former hit badly and the ball ended away from Xewkija’s goal.
