For this match Nadur Youngsters were in mourning as their forty-six year old treasurer of the club, and ex-goalkeeper of the team, Kevin Vella passed away during the week.  The players and staff dedicated this match in memory of the club official and reached their aim by opening a two-goal lead with goals scored during the first half.

Nadur dominated the first part of the encounter until they opened the score but in the following minutes Xewkija had a good reaction and went very close to level the score.  Nadur, however doubled the score during Xewkija’s best patch of play and continued to administer the lead until they sealed the win with a third goal that arrived few minutes before the end of the match/

Timeline:

Nadur Youngsters took command of play from the first minutes of play and took the deserved lead midway through the first half.  Xewkija produced a reaction after conceding the first goal but failed to capitalise from their best scoring opportunities so that Nadur added another goal and took the break with a comfortable two-goal lead.

Second Half

1’ Xewkija’s defender John Axiak saved his side form conceding another goal when he cleared from the goalmouth before Nadur’s striker Joseph Zammit could arrive for the tap-in following a low pass by Ederson Bruno Domingos.

2’ Nadur’s Marcelo Barbosa produced a good personal action but his shot form a good position ended high.

5’ Xewkija replied with a shot from outside the area by Elton Da Silva that ended just high.

Xewkija tried to be more offensive as time passed by but they found it difficult to create danger towards Nadur’s goal.

15’ Nadur were again dangerous when Joseph Mario Vella delivered a through pass from the midfield but Xewkija’s goalie Kyle Attard cleared the danger before Marcelo Barbosa could meet the ball and address towards goal.

17’ Xewkija’s Elton Da Silva once again produced a personal action but his shot was neutralised by Nadur’s goalie Steve Sultana.
