Kercem Ajax obtained a 6-1 win over Sannat Lions so that they continued to impress in the championship and remain serious contenders for the runner-up position at the end of the season.  In this match, Kercem confirmed that they deserve the position that they stand on the table as they are among the most competitive sides in the top flight.  Kercem dominated over Sannat Lions and practically made sure of the deserved win when they scored the third goal just after the hour mark.

Kercem’s positive display was complemented with some well-executed goals where strikers Wesley Simeao Dos Santos and Andrew Mizzi were among the scorers after a long period where they were finding it difficult to find the net. With this result, Sannat remain in serious relegation trouble and conceded another heavy defeat which confirms a very negative run during this second round of the championship.  Sannat is currently faced with a number of players who are either suspended or injured and therefore they cannot field their best formation so they are practically compromising the achievements that they obtained during the first part of the league.

Timeline

Kercem had a better start and dominated play during the opening stages.  The Ajax scored an early goal, controlled Sannat’s reaction and doubled the score a few minutes before halftime.  Sannat however

5’ (1-0) Kercem opened the score in their first serious action when Chris Camilleri passed to Wesley Simeao Dos Santos and the latter produced a personal move and fired in goal with a fine strike from outside the area.

9’ Sannat replied through a lob from a long distance by Matthias Michael Uzor, when Kercem’s goalie was out of his position, but the ball ended on the roof of the net.

13’ Kercem went close to add another goal but a header by Euller Da Silva Rodrigues following a free kick by Chris Camilleri was saved with difficulty by Sannat’s goalie Lorjean Xuereb.

26’ (protests for penalty) Sannat protested for a penalty when Henry Fabian Solis ended on the floor within Kercem’s area following a challenge by Luiz Henrique Santana Motta but the referee did not notice any infringement

30’ Sannat’s goalie Lorjean Xuere was well placed and neutralised a low shot by Chris Camilleri following a personal action.

37’ Kercem’s Chris Camilleri had a good attempt from an angled position that was saved by Sannat’s keeper.

38’ Sannat could have capitalised better when Kercem’s defence failed to clear the danger from their area but Marlon Mamo hesitated to conclude and his final effort was blocked by Kercem’s goalie Gaetano Bugeja.

38’ (2-0) Sannat were punished for the missed scoring opportunity as Kercem operated a counter break and form a low cross by Chris Camilleri, Euller Da Silva Rodrigues fired in goal with a shot on the run.

44’ (protests for penalty) Sannat once again protested for a penalty following a challenge by Kercem’s Nicholas Inguanez on Henry Fabian Solis but the referee was in the vicinity of the action and did not notice an infringement.

45’ (goal disallowed) Kercem had a goal by Chris Camilleri that was disallowed for an offside.

45+1’ (2-1) Sannat re-opened the issue when Marlon Mamo took the ball from Kercem’s goalie Gaetano Bugeja and placed it easily into an open goal.

HT (2-1)

Second Half

Play became more interesting after the break as Sannat tried to produce a reaction but Kercem continued to produce more dangerous actions.

4’ Kercem’s Euller Da Silva Rodrigues received the ball on the left flank and entered the area but his strike from an angled position was turned to a corner by Sannat’s goalie Lorjean Xuereb.

12’ The Ajax could have added another goal when Wesley Simeao Dos Santos entered Sannat’s area with a personal action but from his low pass, Andrew Mizzi’s close-range shot was saved to a corner by the goalkeeper.

16’ (3-1) Kercem re-established the two-goal lead through a strike by Wesley Simeao Dos Santos following a personal initiative that ended out of the reach of Sannat’s goalie.

27’ Sannat replied through a free kick by Henry Fabian Solis that ended away from Kercem’s goal.

29’ Sannat’s goalie Lorjean Xuereb denied Kercem from scoring with an effective intervention to punch away a free-kick by Sebastien Martinez Turizo

30’ (4-1) Kercem however added another goal through a spectacular first timer by Andrew Mizzi following a cross from the right flank by Luiz Henrique Santana Motta.

34’ Sannat could have reduced the score but a close-ranged shot by Matthias Michael Uzor was blocked by the defence.

39’ The Ajax were unlucky when an effort by Nicholas Inguanez following a corner kick hit the crossbar and from the rebound, the second attempt by Kercem’s central defender was blocked to another corner.

40’ (5-1) Kercem scored their fifth goal through a low shot by Chris Camilleri following a cross from the right by Luiz Henrique Santana Motta.

44’ (6-1) The sixth goal for Ajax arrived through a header by substitute Joshua Buttigieg following a corner kick by Sebastien Martinez Turizo.
