In the first match from the last Match Day of the round robin Munxar Falcons and St Lawrence Spurs earned a point each so that they ended their commitments on a positive note.  The outcome of the encounter was a just result as each tram prevailed over the other for a half each.  Both Munxar and St Lawrence however showed their limitations in attack as their respective strikers failed to convert the best scoring opportunities into goals.

Timeline:

St Lawrence took command of the midfield and held territorial supremacy for most of the first half but they failed to capitalise from their best scoring opportunities so that Munxar remained in contention and the first half ended in a goalless draw.

19’ St Lawrence’s Adebayo Ademilua unmarked Victor John Saliba inside Munxar’s area but the latter concluded wide from an ideal position.

28’ Munxar’s defence failed to clear from their area a cross by St Lawrence Christian Grima and the ball arrived to an unmarked Victor John Saliba but the latter saw his close ranged shot that was stopped by the post.

32’ Munxar replied with an initiative by Henry Fabian Solis who released Brandon Said in a counter break but St Lawrence’s goalie Joel Xiberras had good timing and manged to block the danger as soon as Munxar’s striker entered the area.

38’ A good shot by St Lawrence’s Wayne Hili ended just wide.

40’ The same Hili had another attempt directly from a free kick that ended away from goal.

Second Half

Munxar improved their attitude after the break and for most of the time they held more of the possession and created the better scoring opportunities but the two sides were often erratic in their finishes and the match remained at a deadlock until the end of the encounter.

8’ The Spurs were again dangerous through a strike by Luke Portelli that missed the target.

16’ Munxar’s Samwel Muscat had an attempt from a free kick that missed the target.

17’ The Falcons were again dangerous but a shot on the run by substitute Robert Grima following a cross from long distance by Paul Parnis ended wide.

18’ Munxar kept insisting but a shot from outside the area by Stefan Farrugia ended just high.

33’ St Lawrence’s goalie Joel Xiberras was well placed and cleared a cross-shot from the left flank by Robert Grima.  In the following action a cross-shot by Henry Fabian Solis that ended on the roof of the net.

41’ St Lawrence replied through a shot by Wayne Hili following a personal action that was blocked by the defence to a corner.

44’ Munxar could have capitalised better but two consecutive attempts by Ryan Meilak were blocked by the defence and from the rebound a header by Robert Grima ended high.
