In the main match of Match Day-3 of the BOV Gozo Football League of the first division, reigning champions Nadur Youngsters obtained a convincing 3-1 win over the main challengers for the title Ghajnsielem. This was Nadur’s third consecutive win in the championship and with the points obtained they remain the only side with maximum points from three matches.
This was the second match of the season between the two sides and Nadur and Ghajnsielem face each other in the GFA Super Cup final where Ghajnsielem won the honour with a 4-2 win over the rivals. In this match Nadur seemed determined to take revenge for the defeat conceded at the beginning of the month and produced an impressive display where the Blacks were not allowed the possibility to remain in contention for a positive result. The Youngsters dominated throughout the first half and took the break with a two-goal lead. They added a third goal just after the restart and administered play with authority until the final whistle.
Ghajnsielem had a disappointing performance as they seemed shocked and found it extremely difficult to produce the offensive play expressed during the previous matches this season. Ghajnsielem lost concentration and were erratic in their passing. Ghajnsielem only increased their pressure during the final stages of the encounter but there was not much time left for them to recover the deficit.

Second Half
Nadur had an excellent start after the break and increased their lead so that they continued to play with more confidence and for most of the time they neutralised Ghajnsielem’s efforts to re-open the issue. The second half therefore lacked scoring opportunities at the two ends of the field. However, Ghajnsielem increased their efforts during the final phase of the encounter so that they forced their opponents to defend with many players and scored a goal that re-open their hopes that they could save the result.
1’ (3-0) Nadur made up for to missed chances near the end of the first half and scored the third goal after just 23 seconds of play into the second period when Igor Nedeljkovic entered the area from the rght flank and from his low cross Marcelo Jr Barbosa arrived in time to deposit the ball in goal with a tap-in.
